The heating might be too warm for my partner and me, and we had to leave the balcony door open to let in fresh air. We definitely love the Japanese balcony and onsen bath. The food for dinner and breakfast was local and delicious. It's easier to get to the hotel if you drive. The hotel does provide shuttles. It would be better if the young staff could learn better English as there were plenty of international tourists. It did create some funny embarrassment. To our surprise, the staff member with the best English was the young lady serving us at the restaurant. We'd like to thank her for this. (P.S. I do speak some Japanese.) It’s a wonderful experience, and you'll sleep as lightly as a child. I would love to return here to experience that happiness again. One day was not enough.

Meals were in private dinning room and staff who spoke good English explained the various courses. A pleasant experience. We stayed in the traditional room without bath and it was clean and comfortable. Would recommend!

The log house was terrific! Very clean, comfortable, fully equipped kitchen plus dining table. Floors were heated which added to the cozy feeling. The raised floor where the futons were laid was not heated though. There were a few add on’s; very thoughtful. There’s an interior door to separate the genkan (entry way) to keep out the draft. There is a bear bell for you to borrow at the front door. There are two emergency buttons to sound an alarm if need be. (Not sure if they work). These small details, someone thought about it. Lovely forest all around the log cabin. Dreamy. Only thing missing, no one came to set up the futon beds at night. Self-serve only. We had half-board; both breakfast and dinner were mediocre. Quality of sushi was poor. There are many activities such as bowling and mini golf. The equipment was old. We didn’t want to wear the old bowling shoes provided. Things were old, but nostalgic.

There are three public baths on the premises and one exclusively for women. After bathing, head to the restaurant for dinner, featuring local dishes. I recommend ordering both dinner and breakfast in advance. The food is very delicious and unique. You will sleep on futons, which will be carefully laid out for you while you have dinner. It’s a wonderful experience, and you'll sleep as lightly as a child. I would love to return here to experience that happiness again. One day was not enough.

It is a large inn. It was snowing when we arrived. It was my first time to come to Minakami Onsen during snow, and I didn't know it was so deep. There was a fire burning in the fireplace at the back of the impressive and very spacious lobby area. There are four areas (buildings) in the hotel, A, B, C, and D. I stayed in Building D. It was a spacious room with a renovated 10 tatami mat room and a wide veranda with no steps. The windows in the room were double-glazed, and the TV in the room was large. There were two card keys, which was convenient. The room sweets were hot spring manju. There are three large baths. First, we went to the garden bath, which is a swapping system for men and women. There is a large large bath and a large, horizontal rock bath garden bath. From here, we really enjoyed the snow-viewing bath. The pond in the garden was covered in ice, and wild birds sometimes came to the garden where snow was falling. The next morning, we went to the large bath in Building D. It was a weekday before spring break, but there seemed to be many people there because they were on a graduation trip. Everyone concentrated on going in the afternoon. Basically, it was a private booking at 9-10pm. But of course there are criticisms and derogations, that is, the sound insulation is a bit inadequate. The essential hot springs are Longevity Hoshi no Yu, and there is no complaint at the foot of Hoshi no Yu! The two places in the back of Hoshi no Yu, which have no hanging water from the top, are a little warm in winter, but I think you should choose the place as you like because you can soak it for a long time. The Tamaki no Yu, which was disappointed when I visited last time, did not enter this time. (Because the chlorine odor is strong in the circulation, the impression of other hot water is halved.) There are some hot comments about mixed bathing, but many men feel uncomfortable when women come in. (Because the current situation is that it is virtually a male bath under the name of mixed bathing) Hoshi-no-Yu, which has four bathtubs, also enters by looking at other customers, temperature, and places where it is springing out, so it is a woman's changing room. I have to turn my face toward the direction I think there are tough things, but my wife has been lamenting since last time because there is only women-only time from 20:00 to 22:00 here. The brewery was made of kawafugu (catfish), cherry blossoms, silver light (high-class nijimas that can only be tasted in Gunma), and cherry blossom rice was made of cherry blossoms, and the local chicken, pig, and cow were made of sukiyaki of the rice, and it was unique and delicious. I usually eat rice as I pass, but it is great that it is just a amount in my stomach even though the number of items is large. Also, the cold sake of sake of sake (300 CC 1200 yen) was delicious and perfect for cooking. The breakfast was also satisfactory at the same venue. The staff at the restaurant is also very good customer service.

I stayed here in April 2022 on the occasion of the expansion of Kenminwari. As the name of the inn suggests, the sound of the murmuring of the river never ceases. The hot springs are colorless and transparent, glittering and slippery. It is said that there are plenty of hot spring sources, and the spouts of all baths are drinkable. There is a large communal bath for men and women in the main building and a separate mixed bathing open-air bath, which is not connected to the bath in the main building. The hot water is completely transparent, so the hurdle for mixed bathing is high. However, there are separate dressing rooms for men and women, and bath clothes are available at the shop. Dinner is a kaiseki meal with lean beef steak grilled on a stone slab as the main dish. Mr. Nakai is a foreigner, but he does his best to explain the dishes. I bow my head like a hard worker in a foreign land. Inari sushi is prepared in the room for a late-night snack, but this is a grown-up taste mixed with wasabi stems. For breakfast, if you go at the exact time of your reservation, the dashimaki* will still be warm. There was a great attention to detail. There are many cherry blossoms planted in the garden of this inn, but this time it was a really elegant timing when the cherry blossoms in full bloom were blown by the wind and turned into a cherry blossom storm.

Awesome hotel! Although some places look old, they are very clean and tidy, so they are not affected. Dinner is set but it's different every day, some days are amazing. Breakfast was buffet but basically nothing changed. The hot springs are very good, especially the outdoor hot springs. Snow falling on the body under the stars feels special. The hotel staff is the most hardworking I've ever seen, and the same person dials the front desk, the restaurant and so on. There is a young man named Pu who speaks some Chinese in South Korea who is very friendly and tries to meet the various needs of guests. The only thing that was not very satisfactory was the attitude of a typical Japanese male who was rather perfunctory. We wanted to change the dinner time one day and he refused. Later, I asked the young man named Park, he said yes, and then called and confirmed with the restaurant to help us improve our time. All in all a hotel worth visiting again.
