When I visited this restaurant before, the owner would give each table a complimentary cold dish. I was most impressed by the chilled tomato salad; it was marinated in sugar until very thoroughly, and it was incredibly refreshing after being chilled. I suggest you try this first thing when the meal arrives. If they put this much effort into the free dishes, the other dishes can't be any worse.
The sweet and sour pork is the old-fashioned kind, and it tastes pretty authentic. I've had it before in Northeast China, and this place makes it almost the same. The portions are really big; one serving plus a cold dish is enough for two people. I suggest you don't order too much, or you'll waste food.
This restaurant is incredibly affordable. The braised eggplant with pork slices came out on a huge plate, and the two of us almost couldn't finish it. The grilled meat skewers were also very substantial, bursting with meaty flavor with every bite, and they were perfect with an ice-cold beer.
