遇见美景,快乐欣赏Hecheng Lu Gaojian (Yuehe Branch) is a century-old store and a time-honored brand in Zhejiang. The store has private rooms upstairs and a lobby downstairs. It faces the square and is close to the pier. When dining here, you can enjoy the scenery of small bridges and flowing water, cruise ships entering and exiting the bridge holes, and tourists' joy. Lu Gaojian's sauce duck making skills have been identified as Jiaxing's intangible cultural heritage and have a story behind them.

Of course you have to try the local specialties when you come to Jiaxing. After looking at the must-eat list, I found that Yuehe has a lot of food. I chose this century-old restaurant next to Yuehe Pier. The "Lu Gaojian Braised Duck" tastes good and should be considered the top local specialty in Jiaxing. The "Crispy Pan-fried Rice Cake" is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, soft and fragrant when eaten, and very delicious with Thousand Island sauce. The "Preserved Meat Combination" took a little long to steam, so long that I had to wait a long time after all the other dishes were finished, but it tasted good, especially the pig head meat inside. The sausage tasted average.
I arrived on October 22, 2025. When traveling to Jiaxing, of course you have to enjoy a good meal of Jiaxing cuisine, and the first choice should be a local time-honored restaurant. He Cheng Lu Gao Jian was originally a branch of Suzhou Lu Gao Jian in Jiaxing, and now it's listed among Jiaxing's top ten time-honored restaurants. This branch is located in the Yuehe Historical District, a must-visit for tourists, and is highly recommended. He Cheng Lu Gao Jian serves the most authentic Jiaxing cuisine, adhering to the characteristics of Jiangzhe cuisine: light, fresh, and original flavors. The restaurant is very popular, so the seasonality and freshness of the ingredients are impeccable. Of the dishes I ordered, the most amazing was the "Bao Yan Bai Shui Yu" (pickled white fish). The tender fish meat and the perfect touch of saltiness made it a rare and exquisite delicacy. Another memorable dish was "Lu Gaojian Intangible Cultural Heritage Rice Cake," my first time trying it. The rice cake is somewhat like a tofu skin roll, but both the outer bean curd skin and the filling are unique; I've never tasted anything like it anywhere else. We also ordered several home-style dishes. While they seemed traditional and unoriginal, the taste and quality were on par with well-known restaurants, noticeably better than homemade dishes or those in ordinary eateries. In comparison, this "old-established restaurant located in a scenic area" is surprisingly reasonably priced, especially considering their attentive service. The restaurant is near Heyue Bridge, the south gate of Yuehe Street, making it very easy to find. The storefront may look small, but it's surprisingly spacious inside. Both the main hall and private rooms face the Grand Canal, creating a pleasant dining environment, which explains its popularity. Fortunately, if you arrive around 5 pm, the restaurant is still relatively empty. I recommend going early so you can enjoy your meal and then stroll along Yuehe Street at night.
It's an antique place with a river in front. Standing on the bridge, overlooking the entire ancient street, it feels good. There are many people in the restaurant, and it seems to be a popular restaurant. I think the dishes are average, and there is nothing special about them.
Then this restaurant must be the first choice!!! Very authentic Hangzhou cuisine! You can also eat a table of glutinous desserts, glutinous lovers should go first!!! The taro mochi is soft and not greasy at all, and the jungle mushroom head is duangduang, which is very cute~ and it tastes very fresh! Squirrel fish is my favorite!!! The fried layer on the outside is very crispy, and the fish inside is very tender. The soul sweet and sour sauce and the fish are perfectly blended, which is really fragrant~ Lu Gaojian's marinated duck is also a must-order dish in their restaurant. It is salty and sweet. The duck meat tastes very chewy, tender and not dry, and very tasty! I don't like duck meat, but I ate several pieces hhh Lu Gaojian's rice glutinous rice, its soup is very delicious, and a thin layer of tofu skin is soaked The meat tastes tender and firm, not loose at all! I love it!!! I really can't resist all sticky foods! It's very soft and not sticky at all, and there is a faint rice fragrance and a little sweetness. Sisters who don't like sweet can try it, it's not greasy at all! This store is located in the Yuehe Historical District. The environment is very quiet. There are small bridges and rivers outside, which is very comfortable~ The environment in the store is very in line with the characteristics of Jiangnan. The outdoor scenery on the second floor of their store is very good. #Eat a seafood feast #Try the authentic old brand #Food Xunweihui #I'll take care of the great rivers and mountains #Local food
