On the second day of the Chinese New Year in 2023, I came to Mengzi. I found out that Xiangqiyuan is one of the best rice noodle restaurants in Honghe Prefecture, so I came to taste it. It was seven o'clock in the evening when I arrived. The rice noodles were sold out, and there were some stewed dishes left. I bought spicy potato strips and stewed liver, but they didn't taste anything special. I came early on the third day of the Chinese New Year. It was crowded and I had to find a seat by myself. I ordered Caizi Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles and Bubugaosheng Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles. The difference is that the side dishes are slightly different. Bubugaosheng has more walnut buns and a small portion of steamed chicken. The bowl is very large, and the rice noodles are free. Everyone thinks the taste is not amazing, but it's just okay. After all, there are many delicious cross-bridge rice noodles in Chengdu now.

It was only when I came to Yunnan that I learned that the famous Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles was produced in Mengzi. When you come to Mengzi City, you must try the Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles from Nanhu Xiangqiyuan, which is located at Tongde Plaza, No. 77 Yinhe Road. The store is large and has a constant stream of customers. Many group meals are also served here. The appearance of the Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles is really not exaggerated, and the taste is also great.

The former site of the Southwest Associated University is very close to the Pioneer Bookstore, so you can combine them into one trip. Mengzi Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles is a local specialty snack from Mengzi City, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Originating in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, it's named after the legend of a scholar's wife delivering food to Nanhu Lake. Its cooking technique was inscribed on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2015, earning it titles such as "Famous Chinese Snack" and "Hometown of Cross-Bridge Rice Noodles in China." A must-try rice noodles in Mengzi. I chose the Xiangqiyuan branch in Nanhu. This restaurant is also a well-known cross-bridge rice noodle shop. There's no need to queue, and the rice noodles are beautiful [StarEyes], delicious [Happy], and amazing [Yeah]. The hotel I stayed at gave me a 20-yuan rice noodle voucher. On the morning of my departure, after touring the attractions, I returned to the hotel just in time for lunch, so I grabbed lunch at the hotel's Heshun Pavilion restaurant. I ordered the 38-yuan cross-bridge rice noodles, which were quite good, about 70% to 80% of the Xiangqiyuan variety. This trip to Jianshui and Mengzi Miller, where each region has its own unique rice noodle specialty, truly lives up to its reputation.
