The sea breeze 🌬️ and sunshine ☀️ in Qinhuangdao are truly therapeutic! This 2-day, 1-night trip was completely immersed in the azure sea and sky. I'm sharing my all-inclusive travel guide with you all~ Day 1 ⏰ Morning: Pigeon Nest Park Introduction/Experience: Pigeon Nest Park is a fantastic spot to watch the sunrise 🌅. The beach is exceptionally tranquil in the early morning, and you can even spot flocks of seagulls. Transportation: I recommend taking a taxi or driving. Navigate to the Pigeon Nest Park parking lot. Opening Hours: Open all day. It's recommended to arrive before sunrise. 🍽️ Noon: Seafood Stalls Introduction/Experience: Seafood is a must-try in Qinhuangdao 🦞. I highly recommend the local seafood stalls—fresh and affordable. Transportation: There are several seafood restaurants near Pigeon Nest Park, within walking distance. Opening Hours: Generally 11:00-14:00. It's recommended to arrive early to avoid queues. 🌆 Afternoon: Tiger Stone Marine Park Introduction/Experience: Tiger Stone boasts fine sand and clear water, perfect for taking photos📸 and playing in the water. Transportation: Approximately 15 minutes by taxi from the seafood stalls. Opening Hours: Open all day, but it's recommended to go after 3 PM to avoid the sun. 🌙 Evening: Seaside B&B Introduction/Experience: Staying in a seaside B&B allows you to fall asleep to the sound of the waves🌊, super relaxing. Transportation: There are several B&Bs near Tiger Stone; advance booking is recommended. Check-in Time: Usually check-in after 2 PM, check-out before 12 PM. Day 2 ⏰ Morning: Shanhaiguan Ancient City Introduction/Experience: Shanhaiguan is the eastern starting point of the Great Wall🏯. The ancient city has many historical buildings, perfect for leisurely exploration. Transportation: Approximately 40 minutes by taxi from the B&B. Opening Hours: 8:00-5:00 PM, it's recommended to go early to avoid crowds. 🍽️ Lunch: Ancient Town Snacks Introduction/Experience: There are many snack stalls in the ancient town. We recommend trying the local Jianbing (Chinese crepes) and grilled cold noodles 🍜. Transportation: Within walking distance; food is readily available throughout the ancient town. Opening Hours: Generally 10:00-14:00. 🌆 Afternoon: Laolongtou Scenic Area Introduction/Experience: Laolongtou is where the Great Wall meets the sea 🌊, with spectacular scenery—a must-see! Transportation: Approximately a 20-minute taxi ride from Shanhaiguan Ancient Town. Opening Hours: 8:00-17:30; we recommend allowing 2 hours for your visit. 🌙 Evening: Return Trip Introduction/Experience: End of a pleasant trip, heading home with many memories! Transportation: We recommend checking your return transportation options in advance. Conclusion This trip to Qinhuangdao was truly amazing! Highly recommend Laolongtou and Pigeon Nest Park – the sea views are absolutely stunning! Tips: Remember to bring sunscreen and a hat, the UV rays are strong at the beach. Who in my family understands! After returning from Qinhuangdao, all the seafood in the supermarket seems bland! Don't even think about visiting Qinhuangdao in September or October. The seafood is so fatty and cheap, and you can't stop eating it every day. Your wallet will be completely empty, and you'll have to lose weight when you get home! 🌟 Food and Accommodation Tips (A Must-Read for Foodies!) ・Accommodate in a B&B near Dongshan Wharf in the Haigang District. It's a 5-minute walk to the seafood market. You can pick your own freshly landed seafood in the morning, and the B&B owner will even help you prepare it. The processing fee is super cheap, making a large plate for just 10 yuan. ・Don't eat seafood in the scenic area! Go to the Shitang Road Market. In September, swimming crabs, roe-rich, are 30-40 yuan per pound. In October, you can buy a large bag of mantis shrimp with roe for 25 yuan, half the price of a restaurant. 1. Must-do Activities (Seafood Lovers!) ① Watch the sunrise at Dongshan Wharf: In October, the sun rises around 6:30 AM, so you don't need to get up too early. After watching the sunrise, head directly to the nearby morning market to buy seafood. The freshly caught shrimp are still alive and kicking. ② Eat four steamed buns in Shanhaiguan Ancient City: At the end of September, the osmanthus cakes in the ancient city are also on sale. Buy a steamed bun with osmanthus cake and a bowl of millet porridge. This is a local breakfast staple. ③ Birdwatching in the Beidaihe Wetlands: Migratory birds migrate in October. Bring a pair of binoculars to spot egrets and grey cranes. The reed marshes in the wetlands are also beautiful for photo ops. → Independent Travel Guide (No-Bumps Version!) Day 1: Arrive in Qinhuangdao → Buy seafood at the Haigang District Seafood Market (processed at noon) → Explore Shanhaiguan Ancient City in the afternoon → Dinner: Four steamed buns and seafood porridge. Day 2: Watch the sunrise at Dongshan Wharf → Morning: Dove Nest Park (less crowded, clean beach) → Lunch: Seafood Da Ka → Afternoon: Birdwatching at Beidaihe Wetland → Evening: Visit Biluo Pagoda Sea Bar Park (less crowded in September-October, no crowds). Day 3: Take the cable car to Xianluo Island in Nandaihe (super relaxing with a panoramic view of the ocean) → Lunch: Grilled squid (15 yuan for two skewers at a roadside stall, incredibly delicious) → Buy dried seafood (shredded squid, dried shrimp, cheaper than at the scenic area) before returning. ▪️ Money-saving tips (must-see for students!) ・Shanhaiguan Ancient City and Beidaihe Wetland are free. Only the Xianluo Island cable car has a fee. Students can save 15 yuan on the ticket. Remember to bring your student ID. Don't choose expensive seafood processing. B&B processing generally costs 5-10 yuan per dish, compared to 20 yuan per dish at a restaurant. It's much more cost-effective. ・Choose the bus for transportation. There's a direct bus from Haigang District to Beidaihe for 2 yuan, over 20 yuan cheaper than a taxi. ✨ Best Season (Why not? Because it's so good!) September and October are cool in Qinhuangdao, and the sea breeze is cool. Wear short sleeves during the day and a light jacket at night. You won't get a tan like in summer. Seafood is at its peak, even fresher than in August, and there's no fishing moratorium. Eat as much as you want, and there are far fewer tourists than during the summer. There's no need to queue for photos, and the beach won't be crowded with people sitting. ❗ Tips to Avoid (Don't Fall into Trap!) ・Don't buy "cheap seafood" at the entrance to the scenic area; it's likely dead and stale. Always go to a regular seafood market. ・Don't buy "fast track" tickets for the Xianluo Island cable car. September and October are less crowded, and the lines for regular tickets are no more than 10 minutes. It's not worth the extra money. ・Don't buy "pearl necklaces" by the beach; most are fake. Buy dried seafood for souvenirs. If you're a seafood lover, September and October are a good time to visit. Qinhuangdao in July will make you feel incredibly happy. But if you're on a budget or don't like seafood, it might not be worth it.
