The hotel's breakfast buffet is very Shanghai-style. The steamed buns, fried dumplings and wontons are delicious. The auntie who cooks noodles is very enthusiastic. The service is also very good. In the center of the restaurant, there is a Steinway antique piano that was specially brought from afar when the hotel opened a hundred years ago, placed at a 45-degree angle. This piano is a real antique. Many celebrities played it in those days. It is the treasure of the restaurant. Since Children's Day just passed recently, there were a few children chasing and playing around the piano.   There are not many dishes for breakfast. There are small wonton soup flour stalls and Omlet fried egg stalls; the rest are open-style pick-up environments. I like their "Fried Fish Skin/Roasted Garlic/Shanghai Fried Rice/Orange Sauce" the most. I ate a lot of fried fish skin. It was very fragrant and flavorful even if it was eaten dry without white porridge. It is rare to see "roasted garlic" now. Maybe diners are afraid of having bad breath after eating it; so it is also a surprise to see it here; and the roasted garlic in their house is not completely burnt, and it tastes particularly spicy and very strong. I heard from the service staff that the bread on site is freshly baked; so I guess the "orange sauce" should also be made by themselves? The flavor is very delicious and I have eaten it several times. In terms of dishes, it may still be during the epidemic; there are not many guests staying in the hotel, so the dishes are not rich! There is a lack of "salad/cold meat platter/cheese plate". "Soy milk" also needs to be requested; perhaps after the epidemic control is eased, the flow of people will slowly recover, and the dishes will become more and more abundant! Edward, the on-site staff, left a deep impression on me; his shiny and clean hair with distinct roots, old-fashioned humble and cautious but decent and generous service spirit, slight movements and excellent eyes, are admirable! He and Johnnie in the jazz bar are both old-fashioned gentleman service staff, very useful and likable. Nowadays, it is very difficult to see such old-school gentleman service staff in high-star hotels outside; probably only Peace Hotel has this traditional Shanghai old-school gentleman service model! I like this service style so much. This is also a super beautiful scenery of Peace Hotel, which makes people reminisce again and again! I hope the hotel can continue to maintain and pass it on, and even carry it forward! Haha! Before leaving the hotel, during breakfast, when I turned around, the mobile phone strap pulled the milk can and spilled it on the ground; the service staff Park quickly dealt with the mess on the ground so that I didn’t leave in embarrassment. During the meal, the beautiful service staff Bonnie also helped to add more than a dozen times of black tea; she almost lost control of her bladder after drinking it, but she still came over with a big silver teapot! Haha! Their service is really attentive and I like it! During the two days of my stay at the hotel, I sat down to eat at 8 o'clock. The service staff would kindly pour me a cup of black tea or coffee. In this elegant and refined environment, there were children laughing on the quiet marble, and there were also the backs of the guests wearing shorts and flip-flops picking up food. I spent every morning in Heping with all kinds of beautiful, interesting and vivid scenes. I hope to come here again in the near future to see the antique piano and the handsome old man here!

The afternoon tea set is great, with colorful autumn snacks on a silver tray and royal service. The pistachio cream strawberry meringue tart embeds the emerald green and mellow pistachio cream into the refreshing and bright meringue tart, and the fresh and sweet strawberries bring a refreshing taste; the chestnut chocolate cheese cream roll is warm and sweet with a strong chocolate aroma, and the mellow and delicate sweetness melts on the tip of the tongue after entering the mouth; the signature hazelnut chocolate perfectly combines the fragrant hazelnut and mellow chocolate, enjoying the happiness of the taste buds.

March 29, 2017 I had some free time, so I met up with my bestie for afternoon tea at Gaga Sanhu. It also happened that someone was also discussing academic matters with me. It was a weekday afternoon, so not many people were there. We sat there from 2:30 to 4:00, with only about five or six tables occupied. Mostly, it was foreigners who came to experience the historical architecture and culture, or to discuss business. At 3:00, there was a piano jazz performance by an elderly artist named Yasuo. Afternoon tea for two was 566 Hong Kong dollars plus a 15% service charge, which was quite steep. It included freshly baked scones, petit fours, macarons, cookies, puffs, and sandwiches. The pastries were all mini finger-sized, perfect for afternoon tea, and didn't spoil my appetite for dinner at all. The jasmine cream floating cloud rolls and matcha mousse cake were the best; the others were just average. The pastries weren't overly sweet, which was a nice touch. I made a mistake with the drink and ordered peach tea. I thought it would be something like white peach oolong, but it turned out to be a mixed fruit tea with a strange taste... The service was excellent, courteous, and prompt with refills. PS: You need to ask the waiter for your room card to use the restroom.
