RandyMy friend's birthday came, so I wanted to buy a cake. I asked for a group purchase from this store during the lockdown. It's a pretty famous store, and the taste is good. I didn't expect that Suhewan MixC would suspend business in early December due to mask issues, so I had to buy it at Xintiandi store.
Xintiandi store is right next to Taotaoju. Although there was no one eating in the restaurant at that time, there were always deliverymen coming in and out for takeout.
The store was full of all kinds of cakes and desserts. The sweet smell hit me before I bought anything, which made me very hungry. The birthday cake was not expensive. I bought a strawberry one, and the kids liked it very much.

This location was originally a purple Italian restaurant, which later became FASCINO. In fact, I first encountered FASCINO at the entrance of Xingfuli, Panyu Road, and I liked it very much. Later, there were branches in Fengshengli and Nanyang 1931. This one in Xintiandi is probably the fourth branch I have encountered. The location is good. Opposite is the French restaurant POLUX, next to the lively Taotaoju, and there is also a dessert shop COVA. There is a large flow of people, so naturally the business is good. There is an outdoor space to enjoy. When it is spring, flowers are blooming, or autumn is clear and crisp, with blue sky and white clouds, it is very comfortable. Unfortunately, the space is still a little small, and the indoor space is even smaller. There are bar drinks, but it seems that people who come in and out are mainly buying bread and cakes, and the variety is still insufficient. For example, the olive bread that my family loves seems to be made only in the Panyu Road store. It's December, and the Christmas decorations are ready, but why is the door closed? It's unlikely to be closed, right?
They have so many varieties of bread, but not so many cakes, like Swiss rolls and sea salt rolls. I like the red bean butter bagel, which costs 20 yuan each and is quite chewy.
FASCINO, a bakery with both quality and beauty, is considered the top bakery in Shanghai, and has even opened in Xintiandi Beili. Outside the dark red and grayish-white Shikumen building, beneath the lush green camphor trees, a large brown umbrella frames the open-air dining area. A few round tables are occupied by diners, enjoying the breeze, savoring soup, and nibbling bread—a truly relaxing experience. Inside the exquisite shop, the warm décor exudes an exotic charm. The alluring aroma of freshly baked bread wafts through the air, and the enthusiastic staff bustles in and out, accompanied by a bustling crowd of customers eager to select their favorites. The atmosphere is bustling. The Sea Salt series is our flagship product, and I love the Sea Salt Butter Rolls. The rich milky aroma, light sea salt, and soft cheese are incredibly delicious. The two-toned olive branch and the Frankfurt cheese are both highly recommended and I packed two large bags full to satisfy my cravings at home. Tip: FASCINO, a Shanghai-based brand named after its Italian name (fascino literally translates to "charm"), specializes in French-style breads and is located in mid- to high-end shopping districts. Most stores feature Parisian decor. The phrase "from a foreign country" is a misconception. FASCINO's Xintiandi branch is located at Unit 03, Building 1, Lane 181, Taicang Road (5 Xintiandi). It's a four-minute walk from Exit 2 of Huangpi South Road Metro Station on Line 1.
I'll go to the Xintiandi branch of FASCINO BAKERY. There are several in Shanghai, but I usually go to the Fengshengli branch. This Xintiandi branch has a smaller selection than the Fengshengli branch, and even fewer left when I went last night. I bought a cheese bagel, but the staff chatted and got the wrong one. This place is no good. I'll definitely go to the Fengshengli branch next time.
