Restaurant Week Check-in No. 16 "Here the land ends, here the sea begins." When traveling to Portugal, a visit to Cabo da Roca is a must-do! It's actually incredibly windy, and it's just a cliff on the seashore, so there's not much scenery to admire. [facepalm][facepalm] My approach to visiting Uchida and visiting Cabo da Roca was similar, as Uchida is a long-established kaiseki restaurant in Shanghai. 🌹 The ambiance wasn't as upscale as I'd imagined, and it felt a bit dated! The food was generally good, but not bad. While not particularly delicious, I could tell the chef put a lot of effort into it! The tableware was exquisite, and some dishes had a sense of ceremony! Although the sashimi and other dishes were quite small, there were plenty of them, so overall, I was still full! I wasn't particularly excited about the food before coming here; I was more interested in experiencing the culture of traditional kaiseki! The only downside was the older waitress, whose hospitality skills clearly didn't match the restaurant's. She said she was new and working part-time! The restaurant's internet connection was terrible, all using E-network. I asked to connect to Wi-Fi, but the older waitress told me the signal was even worse inside the restaurant, so I gave up. Unexpectedly, when I checked out, the signal was so poor I couldn't pay. A young, beautiful waitress connected me to Wi-Fi, and I was able to connect smoothly. [laughing and crying][laughing and crying][laughing and crying] Don't do evil, no matter how small. Don't make up excuses to be perfunctory just because you're afraid of trouble. Thankfully, the other young, beautiful waitresses were very professional, so I didn't mind! Service, more than taste, is what keeps customers coming back. I hope you can truly carry on the culture and spirit of kaiseki ryori! Sushi at Aoki-san on the first floor must be a big competitor. I personally like it. 😘 I hope your restaurant will continue to persevere!
In the Utsukami Kaiseki cuisine, each dish is a work of art, delicate and exquisite, with rich flavors, making people feel as if they are in a feast of traditional Japanese aesthetics.
During restaurant week, I booked a dinner set for 1880, plus a 10% service charge. I found that the actual dishes were very different from the restaurant week dinner set. The environment was nice, but the waiter was smiling the whole time. The taste of the dishes was very average, not worth the price at all, and the cost performance was extremely low. As a kaiseki cuisine, the quality and ingredients should be improved. Finally, the waiter did not take the initiative to provide a receipt, which could be used to offset the 2-hour parking fee. Of course, a few dozen yuan for parking is not much money compared to the consumption of 6204 for 3 people, but the waiter's initiative is too poor. It is a place I will never go to again.
