SHIKOU

this stall has all it's acolodaes right outside the kitchen, making it hard for one to miss. the claypot porridge had the right flavours of unami from it's fresh seafood. pickled radish (chye poh)was added to the eel and prawn porridge, giving it a very unique taste! the chye poh egg was already very well done! absolutely delight and the total was CNY168, around S$16 per pax!

The first dishes that came up were a few side dishes, stir-fried clams and stir-fried eel slices. In fact, the quality was only mediocre. They were just enough to fill the appetite before eating the clay pot porridge. Both dishes were just mediocre.

Originally, there were very few seats in the restaurant, but they took over a closed restaurant next door, so they can go there. There happened to be large tables there, so it was pretty good. You can place an order here and have it delivered there, and there is a separate restroom.

We saw the recommendation in the travel guide about the clay pot porridge at Shikou Restaurant. It happened to be not far from our hotel, on Gongxin Road, so we went to try it. The ingredients used in their clay pots can be either cheap or luxurious, it's up to you. We chose scallop porridge and shrimp porridge, both of which were delicious and refreshing with the side dishes. The only thing is that their environment is not good enough, it feels dirty.

That day, my colleagues and I had a delicious Chaoshan casserole porridge for dinner, and then they came to this restaurant for supper. After they came back, they recommended Shikou to us, saying that it was even better than the dinner! It happened that we were near Shikou on the last day of our trip to Shantou, so we were destined to go there~~~ When dining in Shantou, you can't have too high expectations for the environment of the restaurant. The environment of the restaurants here is very average, and it will feel a bit uncomfortable on a hot day. Fortunately, the air conditioning of Shikou is quite strong.

A restaurant that has been on TV and was founded in 2000. It is so popular that you have to wait for a table, but fortunately the turnover rate is very high, so you won’t have to wait too long. It is definitely one of the major stops for Shantou food. Their environment is as low-key as its name, but their products are amazing, very, very fresh and sweet, and the price is affordable. It is definitely worth a try!

Chaoshan people like to eat porridge, plus Linhai, seafood porridge is still very fresh. Especially delicious, but the price is not cheap, the various side dishes taste good, watching them slaughter fish and poultry on the roadside, the environment is really average.
