I specifically came to Damao's Slender West Lake location for dinner. The waiters were very friendly. The Yangzhou cuisine here is affordable, popular, and the flavors are good, and the food is served quickly. Parking is not very convenient here, as you have to park on the roadside, so you usually have to wait in line. I ordered five signature dishes, and they were all served in about half an hour. The crab roe lion's head soup was delicious, with a rich meaty flavor and not at all greasy. The river fish stew was tender and fresh. The braised dried bean curd is a must-try dish every time I go to Yangzhou, but the braised dried bean curd here is just average. #YangzhouFood #Must-TryClassicHuaiyangCooking #OldStreetEstablishedShops
I want to incorporate both the poetry and bustling atmosphere of Yangzhou into this trip✨ 🌿Slender West Lake | The Ultimate Romance of Jiangnan's Watery Charm A must-see in Yangzhou! Spring willow mist, summer lotus breeze, autumn osmanthus rain, winter snowy shadows💐 I recommend combining walking and boating: stroll along the lakeside trails to Changdi, Chunliu, Xuyuan, and Xiaojinshan, and experience the exquisite blend of gardens and lake water. Then, take a boat ride to admire the pavilions and towers on both sides from the water, experiencing the feeling of "sailing through a painting." The boat ride takes about 40 minutes, and along the way, you can listen to the boatman share stories about Slender West Lake. Dongguan Historical and Cultural Tourism Area | A Scroll of Fireworks Blending Past and Present This "living history" along the ancient Grand Canal is more than enough for a whole day! 🚶♀️ ✔️ Dongguan Street: Bluestone pavement connects Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, and is home to many time-honored shops! Get peach cakes from Da Qilin Pavilion, fragrant powder from Xie Fuchun, and try Huangqiao sesame cakes and lotus root starch dumplings~ ✔️ Geyuan Garden: Hidden in the streets, known as the "first garden of the late Qing Dynasty," its four-season rockery is stunning! Spring Mountain (Shunshi), Summer Mountain (Lake Stone), Autumn Mountain (Yellow Stone), Winter Mountain (Xuan Stone), a different scene at every step 🍃 ✔️ Dongguan Ancient Ferry: Stand at the ancient pier, watch the canal flow by, and imagine the prosperity of thousands of years ago, with ships connecting and merchants flocking. In the evening, you can also take photos of the canal sunset and the ancient buildings together! China Grand Canal Museum | Immersive and immersive canal epic It's truly the "Canal version of the National Museum"! The giant ship's bow is truly stunning. The museum uses artifacts, light and shadow, and interactive exhibits to vividly tell the story of the 2,500-year canal history. ✨ • Boats on the Canal: A giant canal ship model with multimedia projection offers an immersive experience of the bustling canal shipping. • Emperor Yang of Sui and the Grand Canal: A reconstructed scene of the ancient canal's construction reveals the story behind it. • Night Tour: At night, the museum transforms into a "Canal-themed Light and Shadow Show," where reflections of the buildings blend with the canal, creating breathtaking photo opportunities. Yangzhou Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Resort | Enjoy both dynamic and tranquil canal life. ✔️ Canal Sanwan Scenic Area: Home to the China Grand Canal Museum! After visiting the museum, stroll along the canal trail to admire the winding curves of the "First Bend of the Canal," where the massive Dayun Tower and the silhouetted bridge intersect, creating a wondrous fusion of modernity and history. 📸 ✔️ Canal Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience: Hidden within the resort are workshops dedicated to intangible cultural heritage crafts like kesi silk and jade carving, allowing you to personally experience these techniques and add a touch of cultural memory to your trip. ✔️ Canal Night Cruise: Take a night cruise on the ancient canal pleasure boat, departing from the resort's dock and passing the Dongguan Ancient Ferry and the South Gate Ruins. Witness the canal's nightscape illuminated by the lights on both sides, while listening to Pingtan folk songs! Grand Canal & Yangzhou Ancient Canal | A Millennium-Old Urban Connection Half of Yangzhou's soul lies in the canal. 🌊 During the day, we recommend hiking or cycling along the section of the ancient canal (Dongguan Ancient Ferry to South Gate Ruins) to admire the old buildings, ancient bridges, and weeping willows along the banks, immersing you in the most down-to-earth "daily life" of the canal. In the evening, a night cruise is a must! We recommend the Qianlong Water Tour, departing from Bianyimen Wharf and passing through Slender West Lake and the Ancient Grand Canal. The dazzling lights along the way, as the boat sails on the emerald waters, feel like stepping into the Yangzhou version of "The Longest Day in Chang'an." 🍜 A Gourmet Experience: Huaiyang Flavors, a Taste of Jiangnan Da Mao Huaiyang Da Pai Dang | The Flavor of Fireworks, a Heritage of Intangible Cultural Heritage ✅ Yangzhou Lion's Head: Hand-chopped meat, stewed to tender perfection, soaking up the broth! ✅ Wensi Tofu Soup: Tofu shredded into hair-thin strands, melts in your mouth, a masterpiece that tests Huaiyang knife skills. ✅ Boiled Dried Shredded Tofu: Thinly shredded dried tofu, served with shrimp, shredded chicken, and broth, for a light yet flavorful dish! ✅ Braised Silver Carp Head: The fish head is deboned and braised for a tender and juicy broth. Street Food Map | Check in for the flavors of fireworks ✔️ Dongguan Street Snacks: • Simple Tea and Rice with Lotus Root Starch Dumplings • Zhao's Dumplings • Yangzhou Old Goose ✔️ Pishi Street Artistic Snacks: • Jasmine Yogurt: A Yangzhou-exclusive "Yangda Yogurt" base, a must-try! • Straw Sandal: Freshly baked straw sandal pastry with a sesame and scallion aroma. 🚶 Itinerary: 3-day, 2-night immersive tour Day 1: Dongguan Historical and Cultural Tourism Area (Dongguan Street → Geyuan Garden → Dongguan Ancient Ferry) → Lunch: Damao Huaiyang Cuisine → China Grand Canal Museum → Night Cruise of the Ancient Canal Day 2: Slender West Lake (sightseeing and boat ride) → Lunch: Street Food → Yangzhou Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Resort (Three Bays of the Canal + Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience) Day 3: Pi Shi Street Artistic Tour (shops and snacks) → Return 💡 Local's Tips 1.
