It's obviously different from the luxurious New York cafes. This coffee shop is simple and simple, with a simple interior with all-white wall paint, a few round tables and chairs, and two old wooden cake windows. The small store is unpretentious. It is the oldest coffee shop in Hungary. Selling handmade cakes with a history of nearly two hundred years. This coffee shop started out as a pastry shop and opened in 1827. The two cherry wood cake display cabinets in the shop have been preserved since then.
Very cute cake shop with amazing pastries. When you walk in it's like you step back a little bit in time. The dobostorte was delicious, just like grandma makes. Very fast service and the location is off the main strip, so to speak. My son had some gelato and he said it was delicious too.
We visit Budapest every year and try to visit at least twice during our stay, Ruszwurm Cukraszda. It's a great place, it hasn't changed since 1997, the first time we tried the best cake in the Ruszwurm Cukraszda. However, the other cakes are very good, especially the one from the 2015 national competition.
Eating cake every day is probably the unwritten Hungarian law. I try to obey it whenever in Budapest, especially in Rusłom, who makes the mouth-watering Esterhazy cakes that I strive to emulate for the day. The European traditional atmosphere and the optional outside courtyard are a delight. I wander, leaving everything behind, taking in every bite, every morsel, promising to come back tomorrow. Walking around the city instead of taking the bus, tram or metro is the extra necessary indulgence to soak up the heat of Budapest and work.
