Gamli Baukur

The whale watching town of Husavik is very depressed in the off-season. Most of the restaurants that can be closed are closed. Only the small wooden house restaurant at the port is still open. The restaurant has a long history, dating back to 1884. In 1904, it was forced to close because it did not have a license to sell alcoholic beverages. After being closed for more than 50 years, the restaurant was burned down in a fire in 1960. Today's restaurant was built in 1998. It has an excellent location and the layout is also in line with the atmosphere of the fishing port. We ate there twice together. The service was very good and the taste was good. It was not amazing. Anyway, whether you like it or not, it is the only one. In the absence of competitors, the performance of the restaurant is still very satisfactory.

The original plan for Húsavík was to have lunch here and then go to the Gods Falls in the afternoon. Húsavík is an important town in the north, because there are many groups going out to watch whales every day. Although whale watching is also one of the must-do activities in Iceland, whether you can see whales depends on luck, and secondly, we are in a tight schedule. Most importantly, some of us are seasick, so we didn't arrange it. The restaurant is actually ranked very high in the town, Gamli Baukur, which is located in a very conspicuous position at the port. It is a restaurant consisting of three symmetrical cabins. It is said that the restaurant has a long history. It is deeply loved by locals. In fact, the restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine. Puffin is the national bird of Iceland. Naturally, even Icelandic restaurants do not forget to use it for decoration. If you have a cold wind at the port, you must have a bowl of seafood soup first to warm up your body. I really have to praise that the fish dishes made by Icelandic restaurants are really delicious, and there are almost no bad ones. Italian seafood noodles are the main dish of this restaurant, which is highly recommended. The dessert after the meal, tiramisu, was very authentic.
