Watanji

I came across this restaurant on the way to the hotel. I didn't have dinner, so I went in. Overall, I think it's better than the popular Nuanmu. Their bean sprouts are delicious. The char siu in the ramen is great.

The restaurant is not located on the main street, so you may need to look for a map in advance to get there. It is at the Asahibashi monorail station, and after exiting the gate, turn left to find the right direction. The food in the restaurant is first-rate and very authentic. The vegetable porridge, bitter melon fried eggs, yam noodles, pork knuckles, miso tofu, etc. are all very special and taste very good!

All beer (Sampo Raku) and Awamori you can drink for 2 hours for $15!! My dinner a few nights ago, the wine list alone was over $40 ($5 Orion draft, $5.50 Awamori). This is only a few blocks off the main drag. Only negative, for a very local Izakaya, there is no English menu and no English speaking staff. A small negative in a long list of positives.

わたんじ 通堂町 The popular izakaya near the hotel has a small storefront, but it has a unique flavor when you enter the store. It is very popular and there is no absence. We entered the store at almost 10 o'clock in the evening, which shows that it is popular with locals. The waiter in the store treated us very politely. They accept customers with reservations. The hotel front desk helped us make reservations in advance, so we can sit directly. We happened to sit at the bar. A very handsome boy served us while busy with the side dishes. He looked like a Taiwanese boy, very much like the male lead Wang Dalu in "My Girlhood"! The staff here can speak some English, and the service is very warm and thoughtful. I ordered a few of their signature dishes. The tofu fish is very beautiful, and the green glass is not very beautiful! The kitchen and restaurant of this store are in the same area, but there is no smoke at all. The exhaust fan above is very effective! The last night in Japan ended successfully!

It's a really nice izakaya. If you don't have anywhere to eat at night, this is the place to go. It's usually open until 2:30 in the morning. The staff are very enthusiastic and speak a lot of Japanese, which I can't understand. Anyway, the service is very good. Sea grape beer is the standard choice.
