Uji is only 20 minutes away from Kyoto Station🚇, so it is perfect for a half-day tour from Kyoto. Uji's Matcha🍵 is well-known. Come to the origin to explore what kind of landscape environment can grow high-quality Matcha.
Transportation🚇 Take a train from Kyoto Station to JR Uji Station for 20 minutes.
Desserts🍴Uji's most distinctive features are Matcha🍵 tea and desserts. The most signature old stores "Nakamura Tokichi" and "Ito Kyuuemon", and the two main stores in front of the JR station have long queues. Diners who don't mind dining at branches can move to Nakamura's "Bidaoin Store" (see the map in the picture). There are floor-to-ceiling windows in the store where you can sit and enjoy the Kamo River. Before and after dining, you can also visit the Phoenix-themed "Bidaoin" (🎫600JPY). After eating, I feel that the most distinctive thing is the matcha sorbet. The matcha soba noodles 🍜 look good but taste very ordinary.
Attractions 📍 The entire town of Uji is very small. It takes no more than 30 minutes to walk around the core businesses around the Uji River. All famous attractions and restaurants can be reached on foot.
Uji River and Uji Bridge are places that you can't miss. If you have time, you can also visit "Bidaoin" (🎫600JPY). The courtyard in the water is really elegant.

Matcha is a kind of Japanese tea culture! It originated from the Tang Dynasty in China or earlier, but it is different from our tea ceremony and tastes more bitter! Nakamura Fujiyoshi, as the representative of Japanese matcha, focuses on the extension of matcha and develops matcha culture into an industry! In Nakamura Fujiyoshi's store in Uji City, we can eat all kinds of matcha wagashi and tea breaks, as well as Western matcha coffee or matcha soy milk. You can also buy matcha products in the store, such as tea candy, matcha tea leaves, skin care products, etc.! When you arrive in Uji, eating a matcha ice cream or drinking a cup of matcha coffee, or eating a bite of matcha cake are all very good memories!
Nakamura Fujiyoshi Byodoin Store It was renovated from Uji's most representative ryotei hotel "Kikuya Manbiro" In 2009, it was listed as an important cultural landscape of Uji together with Byodo-in Temple. Sit by the window The turbulent Uji River is right in front of you Nakamura tea comes first The clerk told me that it will be ready to drink in 2 to 3 minutes. Don’t leave it for too long Otherwise it will release a bitter taste Matcha set is quite affordable There are two choices of udon or soba noodles Comes with dessert Udon noodles are smooth and chewy Has a light matcha scent very unique Soy sauce is used to dip noodles Adding lemon will make it sour and salty It becomes a very special taste Pickled burdock in a small dish It's a side dish for dinner Small but beautiful dessert Includes mochi, red bean and matcha jelly Sweet and delicious An unforgettable meal Waiter speaks good English The teaching method of eating is explained very clearly. A proper matcha culture lesson Make your trip to Uji fruitful Enjoy delicious food Cultivation of body and mind It’s truly an experience not to be missed when visiting Matcha Paradise~
Environment: This store is the Byodoin branch of the main store in front. It has a good location because it is by the river. The difference is that they only have desserts and no cold noodles. The advantage is that you can eat without queuing. Queue up and order by yourself, then take the dessert and find a seat. If there are more than two people, you can find a seat and order separately. It is very passive for one person. It is a bit difficult to find a seat after getting the dessert. The second floor near the river has to queue for a long time. In fact, you can't take pictures near the river. The scenery is just like that and it's hot. Matcha parfait is really expensive at 95 RMB, and the taste is just so-so. After ordering, I waited for almost 40 minutes. It was unreasonable to eat. The ones ordered later were taken away, but mine was not ready yet, because if the one ordered later, he would cook it together with the other one that was cooked quickly. If you really want to try it, try it.
Nakamura Tokichi (Byedoin Branch) Nakamura Tokichi fans are here. I have eaten at the main store nearby and several Nakamura Tokichi branches in Kansai. The advantage of this branch is that you can see the Uji River. The disadvantage is that there are a lot of people. All the window seats are occupied, and many seats are occupied by clothes and bags... You have to wait to sit by the window... You need to pick up the food yourself. This is the first time I have eaten at Nakamura Tokichi that I have to pick up the food myself... There are so many people talking that it is a bit noisy and chaotic. If you want to see the scenery, I suggest going to the second floor. Matcha parfait is limited to Byodoin. To be honest, it is not as good as the main store. The chestnuts taste sweet and hard. Shengcha ゼリイ Nakamura Tokichi's consistent level I will still go to the main store next time
#日本Uji# When you go to the most famous matcha town #宇治# you must not miss #中村藤吉# You will definitely not be able to resist eating like crazy when you come here, especially in the two areas of Uji Station and Byodoin. Basically, there are two to three matcha food stores every five meters, matcha dessert shops, matcha cafes, matcha souvenir shops, and all kinds of matcha. Nakamura Tokichi's reputation is one of the best. Many people come here just to eat their matcha. The last order was at 4:30 in the afternoon, and the queue was only until 4 o'clock. Because we went late, many popular main dishes were sold out. I chose matcha red beans and matcha ice cream, which were really delicious. In fact, what I like most is the matcha itself. Drinking a cup of warm matcha in the cool autumn and winter seasons is really refreshing #宇治抹茶#
