The Wonderland Food Store in Kuah Town is half the price. It just so happens that this restaurant is on the road where we walked out of the hotel where we stayed, Bella Vista Waterfront Resort & Spa Langkawi. It is cost-effective and the taste is good, so we had dinner here for two consecutive nights. It is closed at noon and only opens at night. Every night when I came, it was crowded with people. In addition to tourists, there were also locals eating here. We also waited for a while before we had a seat. There are Chinese waiters, so communication is not a problem. The menu here is much more affordable than the restaurant in the morning. Stir-fried clams with ginger and scallions, slightly spicy, fresh, more flavorful, and without mud and sand. Oyster omelette, not too many oysters, good with rice. Crispy fried shrimps, the shrimps here are priced according to grams, 100 grams for RM8. We ordered 300 grams, a total of RM24, the shrimps are relatively fresh, crispy and refreshing. Crispy fried cuttlefish, the deep-frying method feels a bit hot and dry, and it tastes a bit chewy. It would be better if there was some sauce. Sour plum chicken, very strange taste, not like the sourness of sour plum sauce, the chicken is not tender enough, and it is not recommended to order meat dishes here. Stir-fried small kale, different from the kale here, the leaves are more refreshing and slightly bitter. Seafood fried rice, the fried rice here is still very good, with plenty of ingredients, large portion, and good taste.

The tables are basically full at night. The boss can speak Cantonese and is very good at doing business. He will also recommend dishes and side dishes to customers. I have eaten here several times. Although Langkawi is by the sea, the seafood is basically frozen. The boss said that live seafood is expensive and difficult to sell. The seafood is not as good as that in Semporna, but the price is still affordable. I ordered black pepper crab, blanched squid, and fried clams. The staple food here, fried noodles and fried rice, tastes good too.

Value for money Wonderland food store was recommended to us by our host. After reading some reviews we decided to go here although I wasnt that entousiastic since I am not much of a seafood lover. Place was already busy when we arrived (around 6.30 pm). We had to wait for a table. Menu is extensive. All real affordable dishes, even the lobster and crab. Chicken and vegetable dishes we received were tasty. Also ordered sweet and sour fish which was good. Big portions compared to other restaurants! You can order a small portion with some steamed rice which will be enough for one person. Drinks are also cheap (can of tiger beer for 3.5 RM!). Kitchen looks fairly clean and is open so you can see the food being prepared. Speedy service. With a total bill of only 50RM for two people we left.
