Blue Kanu

Blue Kanu can be called the largest fusion restaurant on the Pacific West Coast! The big black abalone is pan-fried with salt and pepper until it’s even steamy, the fat and crispy bean sprouts and homemade avocado oil pesto, and some fish sauce-flavored sesame sauce, it’s so delicious! Smoked eel, which is commonly eaten by Maori people, is used together with pork to make dumpling fillings. It tastes good but is poorly wrapped. Dessert is hazelnut chocolate banana fried wontons with caramel sauce and misiluki banana ice cream, thick! ​

Personally, I think if you prefer lighter taste, you can come to the Blue Kanu restaurant. Their hot pot is based on seafood porridge, and the soup tastes so delicious.

I had a good stroll around the city center of Queenstown. The Blue Kanu restaurant is located near the local shopping mall. This restaurant also specializes in Chinese food, so it is more suitable for my Chinese stomach.

When reading the menu before entering, we expected interesting and tasty food with the combination of ingredients and the Polynesian cooking methods. Every dish we had was very well presented and tasty. We are not big eaters so we only ordered two small dishes and one large dish to share. Pickled fish, pork dumplings and venison. The fish was delicious, the pork had a nice texture and we highly recommend the venison. Luckily the room to the left was the dessert room - chocolate ravioli with hazelnuts and banana ice cream. Excellent. A great restaurant if you are looking for something special. Thanks to our server, Annie, who looked after us so well.

Wonderful meal at Blue Kanu tonight. We sat at the table inside, which had a revolving table, and asked the waiter to choose our dishes. Japanese fried chicken, ribs, curry, Peking duck, Asian salad...all delicious and full of flavor. I would recommend this place without hesitation! You can also sit outside which is great for sunny weather.
