Kato Dool Wellness Resort

This is a very contradictory B&B hotel that I don't know if it is worth recommending. Its shortcomings and advantages are very prominent. It is suitable for Internet celebrities to make photos (the following photos are all original photos without retouching), but it is not suitable for anyone who has certain requirements for ”accommodation” itself. If you can find any cheap + clean + similar scenery alternative hotel, it is recommended to change it, but if it is just for taking pictures and scenery, it may be ranked at the top in Nubian Village. First of all, you have to be able to tolerate: 1. The hotel price is not cost-effective in the peak season, and the B&B offers the price of a five-star hotel. 2. Poor room facilities, rough-style furniture and narrow rooms, worrying bed sheets, bathroom shower water overflowing and drainage is useless, no slippers, toothbrushes, hair dryers (phone front desk can provide). 3. The breakfast is self-service and extremely simple and unpalatable, unlike some people who commented on the set and inexplicably praised it. 4. Tolerate or pay more to continue to tolerate the complaints of the chartered driver to drive into Nubian Village, and then contact the hotel by yourself in the middle of the night to change to a three-wheeled motorcycle in the deserted and dark mountains for 15 minutes to doubt life and reach the mountaintop hotel. 5. Other prices are very unreasonable. We originally wanted to book dinner for the New Year's Eve party, but it cost 100 US dollars per person... What did we get here? 1. The balcony of the room can see the unbeatable sunrise on the west bank of the Nile. We witnessed the first light of 2025 here at 6 am. 2. The various poses in the cultural buildings of the Nubian Village are very photogenic. 3. The desert next to the hotel is very photogenic. 4. A very special cultural experience of a group of tourists jumping up and down the mountain in a row of three-wheeled vehicles. 5. The hotel service staff is relatively friendly. Finally, it is explained that Egypt is not a country where tipping is allowed. Carrying luggage is a basic service of any hotel in their country. No one asked for tips during the entire stay.

The hotel is not as good as expected. There’s no Nile view from our room, located at 2nd floor nor from the restaurant, so we didn’t see Nile from the hotel at all. The service didn’t make us feel welcomed. The receptionist didn’t say hello or welcome, and looked impatient. When we asked if the hotel has first aid kit, as my husband was scratched by a cat and needed sanitary treatment, the receptionist just directly said “No”, although he promised to check and came back to us, he didn’t… The room is good but the bathroom is quite old and the AC heat function didn’t work - it’s just around 8 degree during night in Aswan.

At first, I booked an ordinary room on the first floor, which was relatively small, but clean. Later, I changed to a Nile view room. The balcony had a good view, and it was very interesting to put food on it to take pictures. But the facilities inside were old, and the toilet was empty. When you were defecating inside, you could hear it clearly on the bed. The hotel staff was very friendly and included breakfast. The breakfast was different every day. There were naan, bread, eggs, and honey, which were very delicious. If you want to take it to the room to eat, someone will bring it to you. We arrived at night and originally booked the hotel next door, but we couldn't check in at night. This hotel was still available at 1 a.m. Both the boss and the service staff were very good. Every time they saw us, they smiled and the service was perfect. There was also a big TV in the yard below. The overall blue and white color scheme was very suitable for taking pictures.

Except for the unstable hot water, hot and cold, and very few breakfast varieties, everything else is nice and the scenery is unparalleled. The food in the hotel's restaurant is good. You can only pay in US dollars. There is Nubian musical instruments playing in the evening. There is no wine for sale in the hotel. Passengers who drink alcohol need to buy it outside

The hotel is located on a row of pink granite on the banks of the Nile in Aswan, across the river from the black rock Elephantine Island. The balconies of some rooms overlook the world's longest river, with excellent scenery. The hotel has a long history and still retains its original Victorian elegance, recreating the mythical luxury. The collision of the Moorish dome, Byzantine arches and Arabic colors in the room is extremely elegant and romantic. The famous Suite 1201 where Agatha once stayed for a long time was a pity that I didn't have the chance to see it. This hotel also has the famous 1902 French restaurant, which is named after Churchill who stayed there in 1902. Dinner requires reservations and formal dining. Guests staying in the hotel have free breakfast here every day, so they can get a glimpse of it. It is a classic old-fashioned elegance, but it is a pity that the beauty is old. I prefer the Terrace restaurant, which is located on the terrace outside the lobby bar and overlooks the entire Nile River. Sitting here while eating delicious food and watching the Nile River is like watching the history of Egypt, and I can't bear to blink.

The room I booked has a view of the Nile River. The location is also better. The room is big enough. The shower head leaks a little. Everything else is fine. However, I recommend you to book on-site at the hotel front desk. The price will be much cheaper than booking online. Based on my order For example, it will be 1/3 cheaper.

The check-in process became a bit unpleasant as their stated policies did not match what was written in our trip.com booking confirmation. This included check-in time and number of guests for the room. We included our children and even had their ages listed in the confirmation. Upon check-in we were told that it was only a room for two adults. We were then instructed to pay extra for one child. Policies should be conveyed clearly when booking so we can know what to expect. Otherwise, the room had a beautiful view and the kids enjoyed the large pool. The breakfast buffet had a great selection.

Pros: A newly renovated small hotel; the rooms are large and new; the breakfast is quite rich; the view is very good, and the Nile River is not far from the hotel; Cons: It is located on the dirt slope on the east bank of the Nile River, surrounded by farmhouses. It is connected to the main road by several small dirt roads. If you drive there by yourself, like us, it is difficult to find, and Google Maps will make it difficult for you to find it. We searched for a long time and couldn't find it. Finally, we asked a waiter from a hotel called Sunset to take us there in our car. When we got there, we found out that it was not far from the Sunset Hotel.

The hotel's location has to be accessed by a short boat ride, which can be a slight drawback. However, the property itself is clean, modern, and well-kept. While the second-floor Wi-Fi could use some improvement, it didn't significantly affect our stay. The friendly and accommodating staff & owner made our stay enjoyable. They were always willing to assist and ensure our comfort.
