Dolomites

Dolomites are located in the southern foothills of the Alps and are renowned for their unique dolomite landscape. Unlike other mountain ranges in the Alps, the mountains here are primarily composed of dolomite, with vertical fractures in the rock forming jagged ridges and steep cliffs. At sunrise and sunset, the dolomite reflects warm hues ranging from pink to deep red. This light phenomenon is known as alpenglow, and it is one of the natural phenomena of the Dolomites. Multiple iconic landscapes are distributed along the mountain range: the jagged ridge of Seceda pierces the sky, with alpine meadows spreading out at its feet; the three massive rock peaks of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo rise abruptly, forming the iconic skyline of the Dolomites. Summer is the primary season for hiking, with numerous trails crossing alpine meadows and pine forests, dotted with family-run mountain huts along the way for rest and dining. In winter, the Dolomites transform into a ski destination, with ski slopes connecting multiple valleys. The entire region blends Italian and Austrian culture, with architectural styles featuring characteristics of both.Rocca Pietore · 48 km from Auronzo di Cadore

Santa Maria delle Grazie is located in the west of Milan, on the south side of the Sforza Castle. This red Catholic building consists of a church and a Dominican monastery. It is famous for the fresco "The Last Supper" by Leonardo da Vinci in the monastery's refectory. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980. . The Last Supper "The Last Supper" was created by Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th century, using innovative and bold painting techniques combining oil and tempera, creating a unique perspective effect, but also easily eroded. On August 15, 1943, the church and the congregation were bombed by British and American aircraft, and most of the canteen of the congregation was destroyed, but the wall on which The Last Supper was located survived. Centuries later, 80 percent of the painting's colors had faded, and restoration work began in 1977 and continued for 22 years. At present, the number of visitors is strictly controlled, and the number of visitors cannot exceed 30 at a time. In addition to the "Last Supper", the church building itself is also worth seeing. The church was built under the auspices of Duke Sforzesco and was finally completed in 1490. It was once used as the tomb of the Sforzesco family. Later, when the French invaded, the cultural relics and treasures in the church were looted, but the exquisite dome and frescoes were still preserved. The sacristy is now the Dominican cultural center, and often holds some salons and art exhibitions.Italy · Milan

Piazza San Marco

St. Mark's Square is unique among European city squares, being located in the city center, but not as noisy as other squares, thanks to Venice's quiet waterway traffic. As a Venice landmark, it is favored by tourists, photographers and even pigeons. Piazza San Marco has historically been the political, religious and festival center of Venice, the seat of all important Venetian government institutions, the seat of the Archbishop since the 19th century, and the venue of choice for many Venetian festivals. More than 200 years have passed since the style layout, this trapezoidal square on the edge of the Grand Canal still has its charm. The square is about 170 meters long, 80 meters wide to the east and 55 meters wide to the west. From New Year's Day to Carnival to Christmas, the Venetians host festivals big and small in Piazza San Marco, and even on normal days, people from all over the world flock to this square. There is a circle of exquisite Renaissance-style buildings on the side of the square. St. Mark's Basilica, the Mint, and the Doge's Palace are located on the east side of the square. On the south side are the bell tower and the new and old parliament buildings. Climbing the bell tower can overlook the whole square panorama. . On the west side is the Corell Museum, and on the back is a row of boutiques selling gold jewelry, glass, clothing, home decoration, etc. The storefront is not large, but the window design is very eye-catching. Between the Doge's Palace and the Venetian Prison on the other side of the river is the Bridge of Sighs, and between the square and the Grand Canal is the small Piazza San Marco, where you can see two tall columns standing on the river bank, one of At the top is the statue of San Marco's lion ready to fly. At the top of the other column stands a statue of the holy San Theodore accompanied by a crocodile, both patrons of Venice. During the day, the square is crowded with tourists, and there are groups of tourists everywhere, and large groups of pigeons are flying around the square. If you want to feed the pigeons, you can buy biscuits to feed them. If you encounter a black person who feeds pigeons and corn, don't take it. A small handful of rice is 10 euros. If you accept it, you can ask for money. However, white people generally only give 2-5 euros. If you see Asians in Italy, they will charge more. You can choose to stroll in the square, of course, you can also choose an outdoor cafe seat to sit and rest when you are tired. Although the restaurants and cafes in the square are very expensive, you won't mind because you can stop here for a while and let your eyeballs enjoy the feast of architectural art. The steeple church, Byzantine dome church, mosaic frescoes, marble carvings, and the elegant and elegant Doge's Palace next door are not to be missed. In addition, there are many street performers and mobile vendors in the square, selling some local souvenirs, the price ranges from 3-10 euros, you can buy some as souvenirs if you like. At the same time, the view of the square at night will not disappoint you. If you visit Piazza San Marco around 7:30 pm, you will be impressed by the sight in front of you. In each arch of the buildings around the square, there are lights emitting golden light, which illuminates the original white stone church with golden color, and the whole square is shrouded in a golden splendor. Some restaurants also have their own open-air LiveShow, and it is also a pleasure to watch a free performance here.Italy · Venice

Lake Como is a lake carved by glacial movement, covering an area of 146 square kilometers and shaped like an inverted Y. The lake reaches depths of over 400 m, making it one of the deepest lakes in Europe. Surrounded on three sides by thefoothills of the Alps, the shoreline is long and winding, and the mild microclimate regulated by the lake allows Mediterranean plants like olives and citrus to grow along the shores, creating a distinct transition from the alpine vegetation on the hillsides. For centuries, the scenery of Lake Como has attracted numerous artists. French novelist Flaubert, and composers Rossini, Verdi, and Bellini have all drawn inspiration here. The eastern shore also features hiking trails restored from ancient paths, where you can climb to enjoy a panoramic view of the confluence of the lake's two branches and take in the beautiful scenery.Italy · Menaggio
Marienplatz

Marienplatz

4.7/5
781 reviews
Marienplatz is the central square of Munich's old town. Since the founding of Munich in 1158, it has been the city's main square. The old and new town halls stand on the north and east sides of the square respectively, making it the true "urban living room" of Munich. Below the square is an important hub where suburban trains and subways intersect. Most attractions in the old town are within walking distance from here, and many travelers choose Marienplatz as the starting point for their Munich visit. When FC Bayern Munich wins championships, the team traditionally waves to fans on the square from the town hall balcony. At the center of the square stands the Marian column erected in 1638, featuring a golden statue of the Virgin Mary standing on a crescent moon, holding a scepter in her right hand and cradling the infant Jesus in her left. The base of the column is adorned with bronze statuettes of angels subduing mythical beasts at each corner, now serving as the visual focal point of the square. To the north, the new town hall is a dark-spired Gothic Revival building. Its tower houses a glockenspiel that performs daily at 11 am and noon, with upper puppets reenacting a medieval jousting tournament and lower puppets performing the traditional Bavarian coopers' dance. The show concludes with a golden rooster crowing, and the square is often packed with travelers looking up in anticipation before the performance begins. Opposite the town hall entrance lies the Fischbrunnen, a bronze wishing fountain dating back to the Middle Ages. According to local tradition, people wash their wallets in its waters on Ash Wednesday to invite financial luck. To the east, the old town hall boasts elegant spires, harmonizing with the onion-domed Frauenkirche to the northwest. The south tower of the Frauenkirche offers elevator access to its summit, providing a splendid vantage point to overlook the old town's red-tiled roofs and gaze at the distant Alps. Though the square itself is compact, it encapsulates centuries of Munich's history within its surrounding architecture, remaining vibrant at any time of visit.Germany · Munich

Parco Sempione is located behind Sforza Castle, stretching from the castle in the north to the Arco della Pace in the south, and is an urban green space in the center of Milan. The park was planned and designed by architect Emilio Alemagna at the end of the 19th century, modeled after English landscape gardens. It features rolling hills and valleys, winding irregular paths, ponds and canals, and scattered flower beds. The vegetation is diverse, with dozens of tree species such as cedars, ginkgo, plane trees, and tulip trees distributed throughout the park. Ecological volunteers have marked two botanical trails in the park, allowing visitors to identify the morphological characteristics of different tree species. The park is dotted with various buildings and art installations. The towering Branca Tower is a vantage point where, on clear days, you can see theAlpsand the Milan city skyline. The Milan Civic Aquarium was built in the early 20th century and is one of the oldest aquariums in Europe. In addition, there are art installations such as the "Little Mermaid Bridge" moved from the Navigli canals, Giorgio de Chirico's sculpture "Mysterious Baths," and the "Teatro Continuo" designed by Alberto Burri. Wild ducks often inhabit the ponds, and the shade is a daily spot for locals to jog, walk their dogs, and have picnics. Walking from the castle side along the park's main axis toward the Arco della Pace, you can experience the spatial evolution of this garden as it progresses from classical to modern.Italy · Milan

Mirabell Palace & Garden

Mirabell Palace & Garden

7.4
4.6/5
289 reviews
Mirabell Palace & Garden is located on the north bank of the Salzach River in Salzburg. Built in 1606 by Archbishop Dietrich for his lover Salome and their children, the palace was later renamed "Mirabell" by his successor. Today, it serves as the office of Salzburg's municipal authorities. The iconic scene from the movie The Sound of Music, where Maria and the children sing "Do-Re-Mi," was filmed by the garden's steps and fountain. The palace suffered a fire in 1818, with the marble staircase leading to the garden and the marble hall being among the surviving parts. The staircase is adorned with cherubs sculpted by Baroque artist Donner, each holding clouds in playful and endearing poses. The marble hall once echoed with the piano melodies of the young Mozart and is now a popular wedding venue, also frequently used for concerts and other events. The garden features a typical Baroque layout: statues of Greek and Roman mythological figures flank the entrance, while the central Pegasus fountain is surrounded by sculptures symbolizing the four elements. The green hedge theater at the rear, enclosed by neatly trimmed hedges, dates back to the early 18th century. The dwarf garden boasts a group of whimsically exaggerated stone gnomes, said to be modeled after real court figures. Unicorn sculptures scattered throughout add a fairy-tale charm to the solemn Baroque scenery. Climb the steps to the rose hill for a view of Salzburg Fortress on the opposite riverbank. The garden is adorned mainly with flower beds, hedges, and roses, making it especially delightful to visit during warmer seasons.Austria · Salzburg

The photo was taken at Piazza San Marco in the heart of Venice, near the famous St. Mark’s Basilica and the Campanile bell tower. This is one of the most iconic and historic places in the city, surrounded by beautiful architecture, cafes, and live music. The square is easy to reach on foot from Rialto Bridge or by Vaporetto water bus to San Marco station. Sunset and evening are especially beautiful here because the lights and reflections create a magical atmosphere perfect for photos and videos.I would recommend visiting Piazza San Marco both early in the morning and in the evening because the atmosphere feels completely different. Morning is quieter and better for photos without crowds, while the evening feels romantic with live music and beautiful lighting. I also suggest exploring the nearby small streets and canals because some of the most authentic Venice experiences are hidden away from the main tourist areas. Be careful with pigeons and always check restaurant prices before sitting down near the square.

Marienplatz is the heart of Munich and one of the city’s most popular attractions. The square is surrounded by beautiful historic buildings, lively cafés, and many shops, creating a vibrant atmosphere. I enjoyed watching the famous Glockenspiel show at the New Town Hall, where the moving figures performed every day. The area was full of street performers and visitors, making it a fun place to walk around. It was also a great place to take photos and explore the nearby streets, restaurants, and local stores. Overall, Marienplatz is a perfect place to experience the history, culture, and energy of Munich. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.
