The old town is built on seven hills, each topped with a church, creating a distinct and well-arranged city view. The spatial layout of this old town is unique, consisting mainly of the ecclesiastical district on the hills, the civic district on the island in the river, and the gardener settlements along the riverbanks. Strolling through the old town, visitors can see Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque architecture complementing each other, with colorful half-timbered houses lining the cobblestone streets. Located in Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany, Little Venice Bamberg is a unique landscape on the banks of the Regnitz River. It is known as "Little Venice" for its medieval houses built by the water and picturesque waterside scenery. This area was originally a gathering place for fishermen, and still retains a large number of colorful wooden frame houses. Visitors can stroll along the Am Leinritt riverside path to enjoy the panoramic view of "Little Venice" on the opposite bank, or take a traditional gondola cruise and boat on the Regnitz River under the guidance of the boatman to experience the medieval style among the rippling water. Among them, the Old Mill Bridge is a representative stone bridge, and the exquisite sculptures and murals on the bridge tell the long history of Bamberg. As part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, "Little Venice" not only showcases Bamberg's rich history and unique architectural style, but also reflects the city's tradition and culture of symbiosis with water. Whether it is a history lover or a photography enthusiast, this is a destination not to be missed.Bamberg · 1.5 km from downtown

The old town hall of Bamberg, built in the middle of the water, has been selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unique location. The Old Town Hall in Gothic style was built in 1462, with beautiful sculptures on the door openings on the bridge and frescoes on the outer walls. It was built on an artificial island. The reason was that the bishop was unwilling to divide his land to build a city hall for the people, so the locals built such a building in the Regnitz River.Bamberg · 1.4 km from downtown

Neuschwanstein Castle

4.5/5

Neuschwanstein Castle is located in the foothills of the Alps in Bavaria, Germany, near the Austrian border and not far from the small town of Füssen. Built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a tribute to composer Wagner and inspired by the legend of the "Swan Knight" Lohengrin, construction began in 1869. Its fairy-tale appearance—white walls, blue domes, and scattered spires—served as the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. It is perennially regarded as Germany's tourism icon. The castle interior was originally planned to have over 200 rooms, but by the time of the king's death in 1886, only a dozen had been completed, each exquisitely crafted. The throne hall's dome is painted with a star-studded blue night sky, while the floor features mosaic patterns of flora and fauna, with a chandelier modeled after a Byzantine crown hanging high above. The Gothic double bed in the king's bedroom took over four years to carve by more than a dozen sculptors. The relatively large singers' hall in the castle, adorned with murals of "Lohengrin" and "Parsifal," was modeled after the Wartburg singers' hall and still hosts concerts every September. Swan motifs are nearly omnipresent, appearing in murals, door handles, and washstands. Interestingly, this medieval-inspired castle was already equipped with telephones, central heating, hot water, and automatic flushing toilets at the time, making it remarkably advanced for its era. To capture the classic postcard-perfect shot, head to Marienbrücke. This pedestrian bridge, suspended over the Pöllat Gorge, faces the southern facade of the castle and is not far from the bus drop-off point. It gets crowded in the afternoon, so an early visit is recommended. You can take the shuttle bus, a horse-drawn carriage, or hike up the mountain. The hiking route offers a bird's-eye view of the castle, and along the way, you can also see the yellow Hohenschwangau Castle, the old royal palace on the opposite hill. The castle's ending carries a touch of tragedy: Ludwig II built it with his private funds and loans, facing strong opposition from his ministers. On a late night in June 1886, he was arrested in his castle bedroom and mysteriously died days later by Lake Starnberg. Seven weeks later, the castle opened to the public. Today, visiting the interior requires following a guide, and photography is prohibited inside. Live guides provide commentary in English or German, while an audio guide is available for Chinese. Visitor guide To the castle There are three ways to reach the castle: taking the shuttle bus, riding a carriage, or going on foot. Most people choose to take the shuttle bus, then walk a short distance to Neuschwanstein Castle, where there is a viewing platform to overlook another castle—Hohenschwangau. You can also reach the castle by carriage, where you can enjoy picturesque scenery along the way, and the witty carriage driver will share legendary stories that happened here. After disembarking, it's just a short walk to the castle entrance. If you don't want to wait in line for the shuttle bus or prefer outdoor activities, you can also hike to Neuschwanstein Castle. Along the way, you can capture an aerial view of the castle, and there are relatively fewer travelers. Take a postcard-perfect photo of the castle Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge) is located near the terminal stop of the uphill bus. This 100 m-high bridge spans between two cliffs, with its floor made of wooden planks that slightly bounce when stepped on. Here, you can capture the famous postcard-perfect shot of Neuschwanstein Castle. If you arrive early before your scheduled visit time, you can first head to Marienbrücke to photograph the beautiful view of Neuschwanstein Castle, as the bridge gets overcrowded after noon. Guided tour To visit the castle interior, you must follow the official guide. The guide provides services in English and German. You can also choose to use an audio guide (available in Chinese). After the visit, you can take a short break at the café inside the castle.Germany · Schwangau

Bamberg is one of the oldest cities in Germany, where the Romans built luxurious palaces since the 2nd century. Later, Bamberg became the capital of the German archbishop and established a duchy. Because the new palace of Bamberg was not damaged or looted by the war, all the palaces are displayed in the original palace. The palace maintains the traditional German Baroque decoration, which is very luxurious but not greasy.Bamberg · 1.7 km from downtown

It's a beautiful townscape, and a perfect spot for a stroll. With the old town hall, unique churches, the national storage library and more, you'll have no trouble finding a photo spot in the area. I think you'll enjoy strolling through the winding alleys.

It really feels like Venice. Bamberg Little Venice is worthy of its name. For us, it feels like Jiangnan. Living by the water, of course there are no aunties washing clothes and vegetables. There are also cruise ships on the river, although they are a little expensive. When the weather is good, the shooting effect is very good. It is recommended to go early when there are fewer tourists. Residents are planting flowers on the balcony, it is beautiful

The Old Town Hall in Bamberg is a strange-looking building. The traditional red-roofed orange wooden house protrudes from the bridge deck, the Romanesque tower behind it is inlaid with Baroque reliefs, and the wall of the building on the other side of the tower is covered with religious frescoes. The overall style is mixed, superimposing the aesthetics of different eras.

Schloss und Park Seehof is about 20 kilometers away from the center of Bamberg, Germany. If the weather is good, you can go and take bus No. 907, which runs every 20 minutes, and arrive at Schloss Seehof station in about 20 minutes. The Schloss Seehof was built in 1686. It is a Baroque palace with Italian and Dutch style palace gardens. Tickets can be purchased to enter the palace for a visit, but there will be a guide every 2 hours to explain the tour. There are only English or German explanations. The 14-day palace ticket for Bavaria is available. The gardens around the palace are unique.

We choose the horse carriage ride up, it was €8 a person. It took around 20 minutes and we enjoyed the forest view. Make sure to arrive and park at least an hour early. The entrance time is exact to every 5 minutes for crowd control. The entrance ticket includes an audio set and takes around 30 minutes. You are moved thru the rooms rather quickly. There are free lockers at information at the entrance area if needed. No pictures can be taken during the tour. **not handicapped friendly ** must be able to walk for 2-3 hours and climb up and down many flights of stairs. There are no elevators. We planned to walk down but it began to rain. So we took the horse carriage again -/€4/person.

The new palace now has state libraries and art galleries in it. It also keeps the furnishings of the palace well. If you have time, it's worth visiting.
