I had a fantastic day exploring some of Beijing’s most iconic historical sites on a private guided tour led by the wonderful Lily. This full-day itinerary covering the Juyongguan Pass section of the Great Wall, the Sacred Way, and the Dingling Tomb (Ming Tombs) was perfectly paced, deeply informative, and truly memorable—especially on a crisp winter day with fewer crowds. Lily picked me up promptly from our hotel in a comfortable, clean private vehicle with a skilled driver, making the journey out of the city smooth and relaxing. She shared historical context and little-known facts that brought each site to life. Lily was attentive, flexible, and genuinely caring. She tailored the day to our interests and energy levels, avoiding any rushed feeling. This private tour was worth every penny for the personalized experience and avoiding the hassles of public transport or large groups.

Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.

Doing this trip during the winter was so worth it- there was almost no one else at the Jinshaling section of the wall when we were there! If it is snowy/icy, I wouldn't recommend going to Jinshaling though as it will be too slippery (there were some steep climbs). The driver was there on time to drop us off at the wall and was there again to take us back. One thing I would say is that you do NOT get a guide with this tour, basically just a driving service- I thought that wasn't very clear on the description. Everything else was great, no complaints 👍
