Tip 6: No pickup service is provided in Reykjavik city center. You need to make your own way to the glacier meeting point to join the group. The drive from Reykjavik city center to Skaftafell takes about 5 hrs.
Tip 7: The meeting point is Troll Expeditions Skaftafell, which can be searched on Google Maps
Tip 8: The glacier area is relatively cold with strong winds due to the high altitude.
Tip 9: Each tour group follows a set itinerary, which may be subject to changes without prior notice.
Tip 10: Flying drones in Iceland's national parks requires permission from the park authorities (except at Sólheimajökull Glacier where no permit is needed).

Itinerary:
Join the adventure tour to experience the magnificent scenery of Vatnajökull Glacier in the Skaftafell region. The highlight of this trip is the opportunity to enter a natural ice cave. Led by a guide, hike across Falljökull Glacier to explore its glacial landscape and learn about its continuous evolution. Get up close to Iceland's natural wonders, including the crystal-clear blue ice caves. The tour takes place on Falljökull Glacier, an outlet glacier of Vatnajökull National Park in southeastern Iceland. Known for its jagged ice ridges, ice towers, and ice cave views, it's a popular destination for glacier hiking and ice cave exploration. Conveniently located in the Skaftafell Nature Reserve near Svínafellsjökull Glacier, it's approximately 126 km from Höfn town and 147 km from Vík town.
The adventure begins at the Troll Camp in Hof, just a few minutes from the glacier, where free parking is available. Please arrive at the meeting point at least 20 min before departure to meet your professional glacier guide (English service provided). You'll be equipped with essential glacier safety gear: helmet, crampons, harness, and ice axe. After gearing up, it's about a 20-min walk to the glacier edge. Upon arrival, the guide will give a comprehensive safety briefing and demonstrate how to safely carry and use the equipment. The experience includes approximately 2 hrs of glacier hiking, where you'll explore the Falljökull glacier landscape. The guide will lead you to breathtaking areas featuring deep crevasses, moulins, and other stunning geological formations. The highlight is entering a naturally formed blue ice cave for an up-close view of the mesmerizing blue ice layers. After the adventure, return to the meeting point and enjoy a complimentary hot coffee.

Under normal road conditions, it takes about 5 hr to drive from the city to Skaftafell.
