They were a research team, not a sightseeing group. They shared their work very seriously, caring for and researching the ocean. There were adorable penguins, lively dolphins, and leisurely seagulls. Unfortunately, we didn't see any whales. The ship sailed very far out; the sea was calm and the sun was strong. Coffee and food were available for purchase on board.★

Started off stopping for us to buy some meat pies, then went on an educational hike through the rainforest, which the guide kept very engaging. Then we went the rest of the way to Piha Beach and got to spend some time exploring there!★

It was a pretty rainy day, but I just couldn’t put the trip on hold. I was in the middle of researching New Zealand’s history—something I’d been meaning to do for a while. Hanoz was with me the whole time. He’s super passionate, knows so much, and is genuinely one of the kindest people I’ve met. I am an old lady who needs to be taken care of. Somewhere along the way, I caught myself thinking: I really hope I get to travel with him again.★

Such a great trip! Grant (or Grant but in a kiwi accent) was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the culture and history during the long van rides. Glowworm caves were cool but the highlight for me was definitely the geysers. The whole experience was great and am so grateful that they offer a trip like this including transport since Rotorua is quite a distance away.
Note: this experience did not include a Māori performance or haka. If I read the description better I wouldve known that but that is the only thing I was a little bummed about. The experience is great, but just note what is actually included if thats what you are looking for.★

David is amazing tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and professional. The tour is a great experience that is hard to miss if your are visiting New Zealand. The Waitamo Cave tour is more impressive than the description. The hobbitown is like a paradise. We were able to get free drinks during our trip. Umbrella is available to borrow if it starts raining. We were able to go inside the hobbit house and check out the fine furnitures. These two places are worth the trip.★

Excellent trout organization and very friendly staff. While it was a pity that the Waitomo Cave tour was canceled due to bad weather and flooding, the Hobbiton village experience was amazing.
