Reviews: Auckland: Rotorua Tour with Mitai Māori Village & Wai-O-Tapu

I enjoyed the cultural immersion into Māori traditions—it was both enriching and eye-opening to learn about their history, performances, and way of life. The warmth and hospitality made the experience feel authentic and memorable. Following that, the thermal wonders of Rotorua were equally fascinating. From bubbling mud pools to steaming geysers, it was like stepping into another world shaped by nature’s raw power. The combination of cultural depth and geothermal marvels gave me a well-rounded sense of what Rotorua is all about: a place where heritage and natural beauty meet in a say trip

You can skip the geyser. Instead, spend that time exploring the park in peace and quiet. After the geyser erupts, everyone flocks to the park, and you sometimes have to queue for photo platforms. The park itself is a truly fantastic experience. You get used to the smell quickly. You can take some really great pictures in the sunshine. The food in the restaurant was also very varied and delicious. Excellent value for money!

Such a great trip! Grant (or Grant but in a kiwi accent) was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the culture and history during the long van rides. Glowworm caves were cool but the highlight for me was definitely the geysers. The whole experience was great and am so grateful that they offer a trip like this including transport since Rotorua is quite a distance away. Note: this experience did not include a Māori performance or haka. If I read the description better I wouldve known that but that is the only thing I was a little bummed about. The experience is great, but just note what is actually included if thats what you are looking for.
