▲ The Muriwai Gannet Colony is approximately 45 km from the city center, with a 40-minute drive, and no admission ticket is required. The island consists of two massive sea-facing reefs and was named one of the world's 30 most stunning landscapes by National Geographic. From October to March each year, around 1,200 pairs of gannets nest and breed here, with nests spaced just a few centimeters apart. The white birds cover the cliffs, soaring with a wingspan of 2 meters and diving with loud calls, creating a spectacular sight.
