It's a pity we didn't get the lobster; it was too small.

Reviews: 1-day whale watching tour in Kaikoura, New Zealand [round-trip from Christchurch + small group of 16 + whale watching included]
Guest User2026-11-01
Excellent! Pick-up and drop-off included. There were 8 of us in total, and everyone was very nice, punctual, and didn't cause any trouble. Our English-speaking driver/guide, Elizabel, was very kind. During the trip, she introduced us to the towns we passed through, the origin of Kaikoura, and New Zealand's seasonal culture. She also accompanied us to the whale watching site for the shuttle bus and helped us coordinate tickets and resolve any last-minute issues. The overall journey is quite long, about 2.5 hours to the destination and nearly 3 hours to the return trip. Water and snacks are provided on the bus. Lunch is served at noon (chapatta, biscuits, muffins, apples – quite delicious) at the beach, where you can see seals sleeping up close. Also, be sure to wear gloves, as it's very windy on the boat.

Reviews: Kaikoura sea fishing [multiple captains optional ~ offshore fishing and lobster catching]
Guest User2026-02-21
We caught lobsters and some fish fillets (the captain will process the fish and distribute them to each family). Because I get seasick, my fishing experience wasn't great, but my travel companions who don't get seasick had a blast!

Reviews: Kaikoura whale watching ~ Christchurch round-trip join-in 1-day tour [English-speaking guide, contact customer support for details]~

Our driver/guide was a pilot training student in the South Island who also worked part-time. He explained the geography and history of the route to us, and the lunch boxes he prepared were very thoughtful. He even took us to a beautiful little park to rest. Overall, the itinerary was fantastic! You can choose Cheeky Kea!
