You are with a small group during the tour. I would recommend this if you are interested in Albanian history. The trip was informative, some people were more interested than others. It can be hard to herd everyone.

Reviews: Tirana:Communist History & Modern City Tour with Local Guide

I walked around central Tirana with my adult son for a couple of hours with a skilled guide. The guide spoke good English. The guide knew a lot about Tirana. Even when we asked him about something that wasn't in the 'script.'

Reviews: From Tirana/Durres/Golem: Prizren and Prishtina Full-Day Tour

Our itinerary was changed due to demonstrations in Pristina, so we started there and finished in Prizren. In my opinion, it was a great decision. Prizren is more beautiful, so you save the highlight for last, and being closer makes the return trip less tiring. In any case, this tour is well worth it. We had a wonderful guide who explained everything incredibly well and in great detail. It was a complete success.

For me I was given too much detailed history of the country before we even walked anywhere. It was a lot to process all in one go. The tour got more interesting as we visited parts of the city. It was a shame that we were taken to eg. St Paul’s cathedral and couldn’t get inside due to the 6pm mass. Timing of tour should be better. Or leave it out. Listening to the tour guides own mother’s experience of how being ruled under communism affected her daily life was fascinating. I much prefer to hear this type of information as I probably wouldn’t find this on the internet or in a book.

I would highly recommend this tour. Our guide Markel was great, funny, friendly and very knowledgeable. Great way to sample and see local food and life. The bar we finished in was unique and the Raki is worth trying 😁

Reviews: Tirana: Guided Walking Tour of History, Culture & Local Life

The best part of the activity was the guide, who explained everything very clearly and kindly, answering all our questions. The activity was very enjoyable, and the group size was perfect. I think his name was Orik. I think it was wonderful how politely and lovingly he explained everything. Thanks to Orik, we're learning a lot about this country and showing great respect and affection for its people.
