Reviews: Quad Bike Tour (1 hour)

This was my first time operating a quad bike. We had Benito as a guide that day and the first couple minutes is getting used to operating the quad bike. By the time your finished though you'll be a pro. Benito took us to a nice spot overlooking the dunes and afterwards we drove off a steep dune which was so much fun. He also took some great videos and pictures of us (forever memories!)

We paid $438 for 2 persons for this all day tour. They met us at the cruise port right at the end of the pier and all seemed very professional and friendly. We loaded up into three different 4x4 SUV trucks (3-4 people per vehicle), stopped for a restroom break and to pick up lunch before heading to Welwischia, which was a drive down the highway and then through flat desert plains before arriving at the canyon moonish landscape to look at some views and plants. This first part of the tour was about 3.5 hours and while somewhat interesting, definitely paled in comparison to the second half of the tour (a full 4.5 hours+)....which was to drive through a quick view of Swakopmund (no stops) and then off to the colorful pink lake and on to the magnificent Sandwich Harbour for lunch and dunes and amazing deserted beaches and ocean. Lunch was simple fare (fried meet, cheese, brownies, etc) set out on tables between the vehicles, and we all stood around and grabbed pieces along with apple juice or soda or beer (under the watchful eye of some nearby jackals and seals). The driving and views from the dunes were incredible and you really had to admire the skill and knowledge of all the drivers (no marked roads, no indications of "safe" dunes to drive on and over). Our guide and driver was excellent - friendly, informative, and answered all our questions. Overall, this was a very unique, professional, and enjoyable day where we got to see everything of significance in the region. While I originally thought the price was high for an 8-hour tour.....I came to find that almost all tours are expensive in Namibia, this is a very small and private experience, and these guys offer a very competitive price against others. No one coming to this area should miss Sandwich Harbour and I really think these guys are the best at showing it to you.
Reviews: Scenic Sandwich Harbour Tour

Andrew was an absolutely outstanding guide on our Desert and Dunes tour – everything from the punctual pickup to the drop-off was perfect and seamless. He shared a wealth of interesting and engaging facts throughout the day, making the experience both fun and educational. The drive along the stunning route between the dunes and the ocean was breathtaking. What truly stood out was Andrew’s extraordinary skill behind the wheel. Navigating the very steep dunes requires real expertise, yet at no point did we feel anything but completely safe – his calm confidence and precise driving made it thrilling without ever being worrying. I would wholeheartedly recommend Andrew to anyone looking for this tour. He’s professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and simply one of the best drivers I’ve ever experienced in the dunes. Thank you, Andrew, for an unforgettable day!
Reviews: Sandwich Harbour Adventure: Seals and Sandwich harbour dune drive

We were greeted 15‘ before the agreed departure time by Dennis - and spent more than 7 hours with him. A perfect day filled with jokes, very good humor, excitement, entertainment, useful and interesting information and superb vistas! Even if you are racing for the first time on desert sand with 80 km/h, drive down a 100 mtr dune in an 55 degree angle - you feel safe and secure at any moment. The ride, the views, the different corners we drove too - all excellent. A very nice lunch was included - for my wife with a vegetarian version. Dennis was answering all and any of our questions, he was knowledgeable about flora and fauna, attentive and respectful towards us - all with a very positive aura and lots of smiles. We saw flamingos, a jackal hidden in the bush, springbok, seals and a whale (the latter under sad circumstances). Our ride was worth every penny spent. With a total trip of 7 hrs Dennis did drive overtime. The reason was that during our ride back to town news came in about a whale who had beached and help might be required. Dennis asked for our agreement and turned around to check whether we could be of assistance in trying to get the whale back into the water. Unfortunately the oceanologist who was present had to turn us and other willing helpers around as the whale was so deeply in the shore‘s sand that it could not be towed back into deeper waters.
