The weather here changes dramatically; conditions can differ completely between neighboring mountains or valleys - you might see heavy clouds and pouring rain on one side while the other enjoys clear skies and sunshine. Driving eastward across this alpine grassland, you'll soon encounter numerous lakes scattered like stars among the greenery and wildflowers. From May to September, the area transforms into a vibrant sea of blossoms. Upon arrival, experience the traditional Mongolian welcome ceremony - the "Dismounting Wine Ritual" - where you'll toast under the vast blue sky. The volcanic cluster is built upon the Archean Wulashan rock group and the Neogene Hannuoba basalt, covering an area of approximately 280 square km. Wulanhada Volcano Geopark, located within the Wulanhada Sumu of Chahar Right Back Banner, Inner Mongolia, is an extinct volcano formed over 100 million years ago, with its most recent eruption occurring about 6,000 years ago. Most of the cones are primarily composed of basaltic welded agglomerate and fragmented lava, having undergone some erosion, yet the shapes of many craters remain clearly distinguishable. The volcanic cluster generally forms a bead-like distribution in the northeast and northwest directions, featuring over 30 volcanoes of varying sizes. Among them, Volcanoes No. 3 and No. 4 serve as iconic landmarks and were also the shooting location for the cover of National Geographic magazine.
