Reviews: [Puer Departure] Nuogan Ancient Village + Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Garden + Wengji Ancient Village One-Day Tour | 8-Person Group

The driver was fantastic, very humorous, and spent the nearly four-hour drive telling us interesting local cultural anecdotes. We visited three ancient villages in total. Manghong Village, situated on high ground, is perfect for watching the sunrise and sunset; it boasts an 800-year-old broccoli tree and feels very pristine. Wengji Village was, in my opinion, the best. Also situated on high ground, it's great for taking photos and has a lively, commercial atmosphere. Nuogan Village, nestled in a mountain valley, has the strongest commercial feel. The driver even waited for us to watch the sunset together.

I accompanied my parents, who are in their sixties. Because of the saying "China's Pu'er tea, the world's Jingmai Mountain," we made Jingmai Mountain the most anticipated part of our trip. Although the journey was long and the mountain roads were bumpy, our driver, Mr. Zhang, was incredibly skilled and drove very steadily. He was also incredibly humorous, introducing the local customs and culture along the way, making the bumpy ride quite enjoyable. We had a wonderful time all day. The itinerary was very well-planned. Entering the vast tea forest brought a sense of peace. I don't usually drink tea, but I couldn't resist trying several kinds by the roadside. I highly recommend a plant called "crab's claw," which grows on ancient tea trees—it's delicious. The two villages we visited were very unique. Although there was a bit of commercialism, it felt just right. The people in the villages were very hospitable. One shop had incredibly delicious homemade black tea ice cream and even gave us a large rice cake. On the way back, we heard there would be a performance competition between the villages that evening, which must have been very lively. I guess that's a bit of a disappointment, but I'll definitely go again next time.

We chose a small group tour through Ctrip to visit Jingmai Mountain, Nuogan Ancient Village, and Wengji Ancient Village. Driver Xiao Yan's professionalism and thoughtfulness, acting as both driver and guide, were a huge plus for the trip. He was intimately familiar with the winding, gravel mountain roads, ensuring a smooth and stable ride even on bumpy roads with numerous 180-degree turns, completely alleviating any concerns about driving on mountain roads. As a "living map," he not only planned efficient routes in advance, avoiding congestion, but also proactively shared legends about Jingmai Mountain's tea forests and the origins of its villages. He knew every viewpoint and photo spot like the back of his hand, providing explanations throughout the trip. His presence was relaxed and comfortable, making the journey feel reassuring. The eight passengers in the group were also very easy to get along with; we enjoyed lunch and afternoon tea together, adding warmth to an otherwise unfamiliar trip. Thank you to Xiao Yan and all the friends who accompanied us along the way.
