Reviews: Tour and Tasting at an Organic Winery in the Heart of Chianti Classico Area

We went to Fattoria di Montemaggio for a wine tasting (including several Chianti Classico selections). Francesco, the man who guided us on this experience, is truly knowledgeable and his passion for his work shines through. Their olive oil is also excellent. We were truly satisfied with this tasting tour! Highly recommended!

We travelled with Ricardo and Enrico to Tuscany from Florence and had a great time. Ricardo was a friendly and informative guide and communicated clearly. The beginning of the trip was a bit unfortunate as the morning in San Giminiano was extraordinarily foggy and couldn't see much. Plus Montereggioni Fortress was closes and couldn't stop there. But from 12pm onwards the sun came out and everything went according to plan. The Il Cigliegio Restaurant was lovely, food delicious and plenty of drinks - we tasted 4 in total. They also have some cute animals like bunnies and geese roaming outside. In Sienna we booked both the tour and the Cathedral entrance. It's a good option if you want to learn more about the history and not have to worry about where to go. Also the Cathedral is gorgeous. This left us with just over one hour of free time. Keep this in mind when you book. Overall had a great day, worth seeing these beautiful cities.

Reviews: Essence of Chianti Small Group Tour with Lunch and Tastings from Florence

Wow, this experience was my favorite of our entire Rome and Florence trip! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, funny, and a great driver in the winding Chianti hills. He kept us engaged during the drive with wine and history facts, and clearly has a great relationship with the winery managers. This tour takes you to three boutique wineries, as well as the charming town of Greve in Chianti. November was the perfect time to visit as there were just six people total on the tour (4 were from our group!), so it felt very private and exclusive, and the weather was not cold (about 50 F). The meeting spot was easy to find, and the directions were clear. The wines were absolutely wonderful at each of the stops (I dare you not to purchase even one bottle!). The wineries also sell delicious olive oil, vinegars, and my favorite, honey. Riseccoli winery was home to the famous Florentine sculptor Benvenuto Cellini, whose studio is on the property. They traditionally produce wine in concrete, and it was absolutely delightful. The property also has several cats which will greet you. The multi-course lunch at Casa Emma was homemade and authentic, and we were able to sample several of their great wines. My favorite was the villa Poggio Torselli, a magnificent property perched on a hill, with dramatic sweeping views toward Florence. The historic gardens will take your breath away, and the wine is divine. I cannot say enough good things about this tour. Do not hesitate to book it for your next trip to Florence!
