● Fujian Hakka Tulou and Hakka tea culture complement each other, earning the reputation that "Hakka means hospitable home." Whether you're on a group tour or a self-guided tour, when visiting local attractions, after the guide's introduction, you'll often be invited to a local home for complimentary tea or hot water (feel free to enjoy their free Kung Fu tea without purchase obligation). You can sit and relax, and if tea is recommended, decide for yourself whether to buy. Those not interested can explore the surroundings during free time. There are no shopping stops or forced purchases throughout the experience. Regardless of whether you visit the guide's home, the guide will continue to provide warm and attentive service.
During the off-peak season, enjoy guided tours covering two attractions with intimate service limited to 8 guests per group. During peak seasons and holidays like Lunar New Year, Labor Day, and National Day when guides are in high demand, multiple groups may be combined for commentary while maintaining the same depth and quality of service. We appreciate your understanding of these special circumstances where group sizes may increase.
1. Heavy traffic is expected due to large crowds, so an early departure around 7:00 AM is recommended.
During the Lunar New Year period, the number of attraction guides is quite limited, so you'll need to join a join-in tour guide service, with groups of 3 to 5 combined.
For hotel transfers, vehicles accommodate 6 or 8 people per car. Upon arrival at the attraction, groups will be combined with other tours to share a guide for the guided activity.
The attraction has traffic control in place, so vehicles cannot enter and must park in the parking lot.
All Tulou tour routes are non-refundable and non-changeable once booked during public holidays (including New Year's Day, Lunar New Year, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day) and other special dates. Due to high visitor volume, the attraction may experience congestion, requiring patience during waiting periods with no compensation provided. Some tour vehicles may operate without staff, only including local in-park commentary. Small group tours may involve shared transfer arrangements between single and double routes. We appreciate your understanding!
Essential tips for booking a 1-day tour of Tulou
1. The itinerary schedule and sequence provided on this page are for reference only. The actual tour arrangements may vary. Our staff will contact you by 22:00 the night before departure (please ensure your phone is available for calls or messages to avoid any delays in your travel plans).
2. This product will arrange a suitable vehicle type based on the actual number of passengers, following the first-come-first-served principle without reserved seats or seat assignments. Without affecting your itinerary, the vehicle may be shared between the Fujian (Nanjing) Tulou Scenic Area and Yongding Tulou clusters, requiring vehicle changes during transportation. Thank you for your understanding.
3. The round-trip journey to the Tulou buildings takes considerable time, so we recommend bringing snacks. To avoid missing your return flight or train, we advise against scheduling any return train/bullet train or flight on the same day. We apologize for any inconvenience. Any costs incurred due to missed transportation will be your responsibility, and the travel agency will not be liable. If you need to change your tour date or cancel for personal reasons, no refund will be issued. However, if the trip is canceled due to uncontrollable factors like severe weather or attraction capacity limits, you will receive a full refund without compensation for losses.
4. If you choose to participate in only part of the itinerary, the uncompleted portion will be considered voluntarily forfeited with no refund provided. No refunds will be issued for changes to tour dates or cancellations.
5. During the Xiamen departure Tulou tour, if there are staff along the way, they will guide you on local cultural views and customs such as attractions & tours, for example: narcissus flowers, salt-baked chicken, Pien Tze Huang, Zhangzhou ancient town, etc.; this is absolutely not shopping inducement, you may simply ignore it if uninterested.
6. To protect the Tulou buildings, most of them are not open for upstairs visits as per the attraction's regulations. We appreciate your understanding! Local villagers within the Tulou attraction operate stalls selling specialty products like tea and other small goods. If approached by villagers promoting their goods during your visit, please use your own discretion when making purchases, as our staff do not recommend buying these items and cannot guarantee their quality.
