Jilin Momong National Nature Reserve is located in Zhenlai County, Baicheng City, Jilin Province, at the confluence of the turbulent Nenjiang River and the gentle Taoer River. It has a total area of 144,000 hectares. It faces Heilongjiang Province across the river to the east and is adjacent to Inner Mongolia to the north. It is a shining pearl on the Horqin grassland, a mysterious and simple paradise on earth that everyone yearns for and cranes are obsessed with, and a bird paradise. The area is crisscrossed with rivers, lakes and depressions, and the habitats are complex and diverse, mainly including river beach moss wetlands, lake beach depression reed wetlands, and salt marshes.
In October 2013, Jilin Momong National Nature Reserve was officially listed as an internationally important wetland by the International Convention on Wetlands.
