Reviews: Private Half-Day Kolkata Tour

This highly recommended private tour of Kolkata offers a truly enriching and memorable experience, with Muzaffar as an absolutely fantastic guide. Guide and Experience Muzaffar is an extremely knowledgeable guide, articulate and passionate about the history, culture, and details of Kolkata and India in general. He answered all our probably weird questions, making the entire experience engaging and fun. We learned a significant amount about the city and we would not have been able to set up such a tour by ourselves. Muzaffar provides an exceptional service and is nice, kind, friendly, and very flexible, easily adjusting the tour to our personal preferences and requests. The driver is also to praise for navigating the Kolkata traffic. Tour Highlights The tour hits all the main sites but can be customized. This is what we visited: We started by a memorable and humbling visite at Mother Teresa house museum and tomb. Our guide also took us to three Jain temples in Kolkata (Dadabari and Mahavira Temple), spread over three complexes. We then went to New Market, a massive olf covered market where you can find everything from needle to diamond. Quite an experience. We bought some spices and tea. We visited the old english district with massive buildings and later the park around Victoria Memorial (opted for not going inside) and St Paul's Cathedral. The Flower Market was quite an authentic experience with Muzaffar guiding us through the narrow streets below the Howrah Bridge. The peaceful visit to the "potter's district in Kumartuli to see amazing clay sculptures being created for the festivals and learning about it was for me the highlight. We also went to College Street for coffee and snacks at the Indian Coffee House and were gifted a poetry book by Rabindranath Tagore, Nobel prize of litterature. Value This private tour is really the most effective way to see the city. The high quality of the experience, especially with Muzaffar, will save you time and headache if this is your first time in India and a little apprehensive to discover such a big city.

We booked the night before so it was a last minute decision but the best decision we could have made. Ritwick was provided as our guide and we were so very lucky. He spent the entire day providing us a VIP tour around Kolkata with so much knowledge about the history and the culture of the area. We were honored to have this experience and recommend this tour with the highest praise!
Reviews: The Taste of Kolkata - Evening Food Walk Tour

Our guide, Muzaffar Khan, was knowledgable, professional, and fun! In 4 hours we had no less than 10 unique and exciting tastings/experiences. We were met in our hotel lobby on time and escorted into an a/c’d taxi for a ride to the Indian Coffee House which also offered a chance to see the College Street book market! At the coffee house we had fish sticks and egg battered fried mutton with a delicious curried ketchup sauce. True Bengali comfort food! We also enjoyed a “special coffee” the was rich, thick, creamy, and sweet. Special indeed! We then walked to Putiram Sweet Shop, a traditional spot for Bengali sweets for over 150 years, for a sample tray of desserts, all of which were delicious, but not to be missed is the pista barfi! A pistachio flavored milk based dessert that reminds of cheesecake. 😋 We then walked to several more spots including a restaurant serving Kathi rolls (brilliant burrito-like wraps with tandoori chicken inside), a street vendor serving fresh pressed fruit juices, a stop to sit and share masala chai with colleagues of Muzaffar’s, a stop at a saree shop in New Market (a special treat when I shared that I was interested in sarees), then a visit to a food festival (part of the celebration in preparation for Durga Puja), where we had panipuri, chicken kabobs, misti doi (a tangy, yogurt-like milk pudding), and finally a tasty little finger sized treat wrapped in beetle leaves! A truly tasty night to remember and a great intro to Kolkata!
