it was a very nice and informative day. good to see the interaction between the "mailmen" and the people who live in the sound. the happiness of the people to have visitors and be able to talk to someone. the dogs waiting for their cookies. the tour in the sheepfarm of Kelly Williams was fantastic!!so good to be able to learn what are the thoughts and feelings of these people and how heroically they live there. the stories in the boat also were nice...about mussels and sealife too a very nice day!!!

Great time, and the guide took extra time and even stayed out a little longer when he spotted dolphins - and we were also able to have a good walk in Ship Cove.

Reviews: Queen Charlotte Sound Mail Boat Cruise from Picton
Guest User2025-12-24
This was a very interesting and enjoyable tour through the beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound. It was fascinating to see how remote some of the homes and communities are and how dependent they are on the mail boat for daily supplies and connections. This aspect of the tour made the experience feel authentic and unique, not just a scenic cruise. The captain’s commentary was both informative and entertaining, adding a lot of context and local insight throughout the journey. A nice touch was the opportunity to enjoy free water, coffee, and tea on board — bringing your own cup is a good idea. Although the weather could have been better, it didn’t take away from our enjoyment of the tour. Overall, this cruise offers a great combination of scenery, local life, and storytelling, and we really enjoyed the experience.
