Reviews: Private Tour to Otavalo & Surroundings

Eric was our guide and Carlos our driver. Eric was friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and very helpful. He responded to our interests and was flexible with our itinerary. When we expressed interest in the rose industry he made sure we stopped at a local distributor and walked us through their process. This was a highlight of the trip. Carlos was also friendly and very helpful. We really enjoyed the flower excursion (mentioned earlier), and the stop at the artisan shop. The Otavalo market was interesting, but quiet on a weekday (made it easier to browse!). We enjoyed the walk to the waterfall and Eric made sure that we experienced and understood the relevance of the Inty Watara. We really enjoyed the time browsing around Cotacachi. It’s a lovely city. The streets were interesting and there were some great shops. We particularly enjoyed our coffee stop. Note that it’s a long drive (2 hours each way). We left at 7:30am, and weren’t back until close to 6pm. It was comfortable for the four of us in the vehicle provided.

An amazing day out with a superb guide, Santiago. Having a private tour meant we could stop whenever we wanted and I was able to take in amazing lake views, learn about the fascinating history of an indigenous farm and then see the sights of the Otavalo market. Santiago kindly assisted me with linguistic bartering and I was able to find everything I wanted. We stopped at the Biscucho San Pedro biscuit factory where Santiago was able to tell me some of the history of how these biscuits came about. He then kindly bought me some to take home. This was a superb day and Santiago was very knowledgeable and passionate. I feel like I have learnt a lot about the culture of Ecuador today and I can only thank Santiago for that. 10/10 highly recommend

We had a great day with Diego. We visited the old town, went up in the cable car and went to the equator. We learnt heaps and felt safe at all times. A great day out.

We had a wonderful day exploring Quito. Ishmael was a super flexible guide who was knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. He adjusted the itinerary so that we had clearer weather and visibility at the top of the cable car. The view was simply spectacular. We had a great visit to a local market in town. We enjoyed a walk about at the Basilica and around Old Town. The lunch spot was fantastic and featured amazing local dishes. We closed the day with a visit to the equator. I highly recommend this tour.

We loved this full-day tour with pick-up and drop-off at our hotel in a very comfortable car, which gave us a wonderful overview of the city: The Intiñan Museum and the Equator Line with its fun, interactive exhibits. The ascent of the Pichincha volcano to 4,000 meters altitude via cable car and breathtaking views. The visit to the magnificent historic center with its charming streets and lively squares, and its beautiful churches. A big thank you to Galindo, our friendly guide, who provided us with a wealth of information in clear English, recommended a great restaurant, and even treated us to a chocolate tasting. Everything was perfect; we highly recommend this tour.
