Reviews: Melbourne Puffing Billy Steam Train + Penguin Island Day Tour [Visit two popular attractions in one day]

Since it was a small group, the driver picked us up at the hotel on time. The small crowds made the experience very good. The steam train burned coal, and the smoke was a bit dirty. I was covered in fine coal dust when I returned, so I tried not to open my mouth when facing the wind. The penguins were cute, and you could see them up close on the boardwalk. The starry sky was also beautiful. I had already seen the zoo in Brisbane, so I didn't go. I felt that an hour was a bit tight for the zoo. I would like to praise the driver and tour guide, Banban, for his steady driving and also for teaching us some sightseeing tips.

Arriving in Melbourne, Australia, I felt a little nervous and uneasy. Being in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by foreigners, I felt quite lost. However, I was surprised to find a tour group with Chinese guides on Ctrip. The guide was incredibly enthusiastic and responsible, treating every passenger with friendliness. Even if we were going to be late, he would call ahead to check on us, showing no signs of impatience. His driving skills were also top-notch, very steady, and his commentary throughout the trip was professional and engaging. Early in the morning, we set off in a comfortable air-conditioned bus. Our first stop was the Puffing Billy Steam Train, its vintage atmosphere captivating us. The century-old locomotive billowed white smoke, the wooden carriages gleamed with the patina of time, and the open-plan design was perfect for travelers! Many tourists excitedly stuck their feet out of the windows, letting the breeze from the Dandenong Ranges caress their faces, watching the lush rainforest, verdant farmland, and winding rivers unfold before them. When the train crossed the iconic wooden bridge, cheers and the train whistle mingled throughout the carriage, making it feel like stepping into a scene from an old movie. In the afternoon, we went to the Koala Sanctuary and saw kangaroos and koalas, Australia's famous and unique animals—they were so adorable! Koalas are very sleepy; after eating leaves, they'll tuck their heads to their chests and sleep. Luckily, we saw one awake—it was truly adorable! The zoo also had many other strange and wonderful animals, which was a real eye-opener. After the zoo, we headed to Phillip Island. The coastal scenery along the way was breathtaking. Upon arriving at Cape Nobbes, we strolled along the boardwalk along the cliffside. The azure water crashed against the rocks, creating white waves, and the sea breeze carried a salty freshness. Seabirds soared in the distance; every snapshot was wallpaper-worthy. The most anticipated part was the penguin parade, which was incredibly exciting! As the sunset gilded the sea, groups of tiny penguins, no bigger than a palm, waddled out of the waves, marching in neat lines towards their nests. Their round bodies and adorable gait instantly melted away all our fatigue. Watching them huddle together, waddling along, this intimate contact with nature truly softens the world. I must commend the thoughtful arrangements of the itinerary: the guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing the history of the Phillip Island train and ecological stories along the way. The entire journey was seamless, requiring no worries about transportation or tickets. Lunch offered a wide variety of choices, was delicious, and excellent value. Although it was a full-day trip, the pace was relaxed, preventing any feeling of rushing.

Because I couldn't get tickets for the miniature train, I booked an English-speaking tour instead. The driver and guide were very helpful and provided excellent explanations. They even took photos and videos for me. I'm so grateful!

## Phillip Island Penguin Watching Day Trip in Melbourne ### Pre-Trip Preparations The plan to go to Phillip Island had been brewing for a while. This time, we planned to experience the famous "Little Penguins Returning Home" show. We booked our nighttime viewing tickets online in advance and opted for a day trip, which was convenient and included visits to other attractions. ### Departure At 10:00 AM, we departed from Melbourne's city center on a tour bus, traveling along the scenic coastline to Phillip Island. Along the way, we passed through stunning farmland and coastal scenery, and the guide introduced landmarks along the way, making us very excited. ### Nature Park Stroll Next, we arrived at the "Phillip Island Nature Park." Here, we not only saw many local wild animals but also strolled through the open grasslands and along the coast. With the sea breeze blowing, we took many photos in the park, especially the one with the adorable koalas, which became one of the highlights of the trip. ### Penguin Watching Night In the evening, we went to the "Little Penguin Watching Centre." Here, hundreds of little penguins gradually returned to their nests on the beach as the sun set. At that moment, everyone held their breath in quiet anticipation, watching the penguins' smiling figures, making the beach feel especially warm and inviting at night. These little guys were absolutely adorable as they walked step by step back to their nests! ### End of a Wonderful Day After seeing the penguins, we took a bus back to Melbourne, our hearts filled with emotion. This day's trip not only allowed us to observe these precious wild animals up close but also gave us a unique experience of Australia's natural landscape. The beauty of Phillip Island will remain in our hearts, becoming an unforgettable memory. This trip to Phillip Island allowed us to experience the perfect combination of nature, animals, and the island itself, making us fall even more in love with this land. Looking forward to the next adventure!
Reviews: Melbourne: Puffing Billy & Healesville Sanctuary Scenic Tour

We enjoyed each step of the trip. Our driver Ron was fantastic. Very friendly with the right amount of sarcastic humour. Just the way we like it. I loved the respectful way that Healesville has been created for our wildlife. I heard many comments that they wish they saw more animals but for me it was a great experience walking around the park and hoping to spot some wildlife the same as if we were out on a bush walk. The puffing Billy and the chocolate place were also a great experience in a truly beautiful part of our amazing country.
