On February 6th, we visited Sanzen-in Temple, Kibune, and Arashiyama. Our tour guide was Jiang Jun (Fukuda Hiroichi), and I would give him a five-star rating! The bus was a small, clean vehicle, although the seating was quite small. But that's typical for Japanese buses, so there's not much to do about it. The departure and return times for the attractions were well-managed. The driver was very attentive and responsible in answering our questions, and driving felt very safe. Since the passengers were all quite quiet and reserved, the bus was relatively quiet with little guided tour, which I believe is understandable, as he needed to concentrate on driving. Therefore, the lack of detailed explanations of the attractions was acceptable. One thing to note is that the driver showed me the seats for the Arashiyama sightseeing train, but when we arrived, we found that the cable car was closed in winter. Please be aware of this when you go!★

🌳 3 Must-Do Things at Amanohashidate
1️⃣ Climb to the top of "Umbrella Pine Park" for a bird's-eye view of the sandbar
→ Take the cable car to the top (round trip ¥720), and take a "reverse Fuji" composition from the viewpoint overlooking the sea.
→ Hidden spot: The west side of the observation deck at the top of the mountain offers a stunning view of the sandbar and the Aso Sea side-by-side!
2️⃣ Walk barefoot on the "Natural White Sand Beach"
→ Take off your shoes and walk on 2km of pure white sand. The seawater washing over your ankles at high tide is incredibly soothing.
→ Rent a bicycle (¥500/hour) and chase seagulls along the sandbar, feeling the shape of the wind.
3️⃣ Visit "Chieunji Temple" for amulets
→ Vermilion torii gates paired with century-old pine trees; seek amulets for academic success/marriage (from ¥800).
→ Touch the "Manjushri Wisdom Wheel" and spin it three times; legend says it will make you smarter!★

This was our first trip to Japan as a family of four. We traveled independently and only did a one-day bus tour. Our guide, Seokbong Oh, told us so many interesting stories that we couldn't hear anywhere else, and the tour schedule was also great. It was the most fulfilling day of our trip to Japan. I decided to join this trip on a whim, and it turned out to be the best travel experience I've had recently! All three attractions are hidden in the mountains or suburbs, and it would have been really difficult to get around by public transportation. Luckily, we had a thoughtful driver and a warm and welcoming guide who took care of us throughout the trip, and I felt incredibly welcome from the moment I boarded the bus.
