performance details
The performance unfolds in five acts: "First Meeting," "Falling in Love," "Parting," "Reminiscence," and "Impression." Drawing inspiration from classic tales like Xu Xian and the White Snake, as well as Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, it brings to life Hangzhou's ancient folklore and myths. The show recreates iconic elements of West Lake's cultural history, blending light and music to transform the sky into a curtain, the lake into a stage, and the landscape into a breathtaking backdrop.
<<<
Stage design: During the day, the stage lights are hidden in West Lake's waters, and at night they are pulled out by boats, with a quantity of up to 1,000. The stage is set 3cm underwater, where 300 performers dance on the water.
<<<
Technological design: At the climax of the performance, three 5-story-high water curtains will gradually rise from the lake.
<<<
Five-senses experience: In 2023, an aroma diffuser was introduced to release scents matching performance scenarios; in 2024, "Dongpo rice cakes" were launched with various flavors developed for different programs, such as green tea, rose, osmanthus, and jasmine, enhancing audience immersion.
