The Globe Theatre was built in 1599. During its tumultuous past, it was destroyed by a fire in 1613, rebuilt a year later on the same site, and then demolished by the Puritans in 1642, who feared the theater was an ungodly place that would lure people away from church.
The Globe Experience combines interactive elements of theatrical production, the unique story of Shakespeare's Globe, and a guided tour of the Globe. Discover how we bring the magic of storytelling to life in the newly reimagined spaces beneath Shakespeare's Globe! Guided by our experts, you'll immerse yourself in Shakespeare's narrative world, from the creation of his works to their modern-day interpretations. Explore how we blend diverse stagecraft elements to vividly present these stories in our beautiful and distinctive wooden 'O'-shaped candlelit theater. The experience lasts approximately 2 hr (including a 50-min guided tour and self-guided exploration of the exhibition space). After the tour, you can visit the perfect spot for a bite to eat, explore Tate Modern, or take a riverside stroll to the London Eye.
