This was an excellent trip with extraordinary sights, fun activities, educational information, and a great tour guide (Noemi) and driver (Agustin). Quiroga had the best carnitas we have ever tasted, and great street market finds. Tzintzuntzan had 500 year old olive trees, ancient ruins, a beautiful crafts market, and a warm and friendly atmosphere. The boat ride to and from Janitzio was so entertaining and fun. We walked 365 steps up to the statue and another 160 steps inside the Morelos monument to amazing views. Patzcuaro was a charming, historic colonial town with rich Purépecha culture, beautiful scenery, and exceptional artisan crafts, noted for its pleasant climate, friendly people, amazing local food, and slower pace. We fully recommend this trip to all that are interested, and for the Janitzio island piece for those that are in good shape to be able to handle all of those steps.
