▲ Longji Rice Terraces, officially known as Longji Rice Terraces National Wetland Park, is composed of numerous villages with considerable distances between them. The terraces have been honored with titles such as Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System, National Agricultural Tourism Demonstration Site, National AAAA Tourist Attraction, and Autonomous Region-Level Scenic Area. Located in the Nanling Mountains, the area saw the emergence of primitive cultivated japonica rice between 6,000 and 12,000 years ago, making it one of the origins of artificial rice cultivation in the world. Terraced farming methods were already established in Longsheng during the Qin and Han dynasties. By the Tang and Song dynasties, the Longji Rice Terraces underwent large-scale development, reaching their current scale during the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a history spanning at least 2,300 years. The ancestors who carved these terraces out of the mountains could never have imagined that their backbreaking labor and sacrifices would create such breathtaking and graceful landscapes.

▲ Huangluo Village of Yao Nationality is one of the thirteen villages in Longji, inhabited exclusively by the Yao people. Visitors can voluntarily watch folk performances arranged by local villagers and explore the Long Hair Museum, which showcases intangible cultural heritage.
