With a range of 18 nautical miles and the ability to penetrate level-7 sea fog, the lighthouse underwent upgrades in 2010 with an AIS base station and in 2013 with an intelligent energy system. It continues to provide safe navigation for 18 international routes in the Nan'ao Strait, guiding an average of 46 merchant ships daily.
