We were staying in in Asahikawa and our tour guide Rii was wonderful in facilitating us being able to join and leave the tour . She was very helpful throughout the trip and was definitely one of the highlights in our booking.

Our Chinese-speaking tour guide was from mainland China (Sister Bingbing). The meeting point was easy to find. The zoo was given a fair amount of time for a day trip, but it was just so much fun, and with lunch included, we felt the time was insufficient. The snowmobiles were really fun, and the snow at Shikisai-oka was perfect for snow activities. The guide also recommended the bakery next to the Fairy Terrace; the bread was absolutely delicious. Because the return trip to Sapporo took a while, we only had time for a short visit to the Fairy Terrace. Exploring all the shops on the terrace would take quite a bit of time. However, for just browsing and taking photos, the time was enough! It was my first time on a day trip, and I had a wonderful time. The beautiful snowy scenery along the way was truly breathtaking, especially for someone from my country who rarely sees snow!

Guide Liu was amazing! Today's day trip to Asahiyama Zoo, Forest Elf Terrace, and Shirahige Falls was exceptionally well-planned. The timing was impeccable, allowing ample time for photos and exploration at each attraction, so there was no rush. Guide Liu not only provided detailed explanations but was also incredibly considerate, looking after the elderly and children in our group throughout the trip and resolving any issues immediately. Although the weather was cold, her warmth made the entire trip feel cozy. The view from the Forest Elf Terrace was fantastic, and the snowscape at Shirahige Falls was breathtaking. Traveling with Guide Liu was both safe and enjoyable – a perfect score! 💯

Winter Dreams of the Northern Country: A Guided Tour of Four Famous Scenic Spots – Asahikawa, Biei, and Furano In the depths of Hokkaido's winter, when temperatures plummet below freezing, this land truly reveals its purest and most captivating side. From lively polar animals to tranquil frozen lakes, this route is the ultimate choice for winter travel. I. Asahiyama Zoo: A Waltz of Life in the Snow Asahikawa Zoo, Japan's northernmost zoo, truly shines in winter. It's not just about observing animals, but also a life education about survival and vitality. • The Winter Extravaganza of Penguin Walks: This is the number one reason for winter visitors. To help penguins burn fat during the long winter, the zoo allows them to walk in the snow daily. Watching the King Penguin waddle past, its white belly puffed out, is a uniquely comforting and warm experience, a winter-limited warmth. • The Majesty of the Polar Rulers: Polar bears appear remarkably at ease amidst the thick snow, rolling and playing in the snow with a more vibrant energy than in summer. Furthermore, you can observe seals darting through vertical water pipes via the "Seal Observation Tube," seemingly slithering through the icy sea. II. Biei's Shirogane Blue Pond: A Mysterious Illusion Beneath the Frozen Ice The Blue Pond, renowned for its cobalt blue waters in summer, presents a completely different "still beauty" in winter. • The Minimalist Aesthetics of a Silvery Landscape: After December, the lake gradually freezes over and is covered in snow. Although the flowing water is not visible, the bare larch trees pointing straight to the sky from the silvery snowfield create an extreme sense of solitude, resembling a Zen-like ink painting. • Winter Nighttime Illumination: To compensate for the snow covering the lake, the park illuminates the nights dynamically in winter. Different hues of light shift between the snowfield and the withered trees, simulating shimmering reflections on the water, transforming the Blue Pond into a sci-fi-inspired galactic theater in the night. III. Shirahige Falls: The Never-Frozen Azure Artery Not far from the Blue Pond lies Shirahige Falls, a breathtaking natural wonder in winter. • The Boundary Between Cold and Heat: Due to the presence of hot springs in its source, the falls continue to flow even at -20 degrees Celsius. The white spray of the falls intertwines with the cobalt blue waters of the Biei River below, creating a striking visual contrast. • Rime and Ice Curtains: Water vapor around the falls condenses at low temperatures, clinging to rocks and branches to form spectacular rime and icicles. Looking down from the Shirogane Bridge, the billowing steam and the deep blue water of the pool seem to transport travelers to an ice palace from Norse mythology. IV. Furano Fairy Terrace: A Fairytale Forest in Deep Snow Located next to the New Furano Prince Hotel, the "Fairy Terrace" is the pinnacle of winter romance. • Warm Light in the Forest: 15 log cabins are scattered throughout the snow-covered forest. As dusk falls, warm yellow lights illuminate the boardwalk, reflecting off the thick snow.

We had a wonderful day trip! We booked a day in advance through the Trip.com mobile app, and although we weren't departing from Sapporo, thanks to excellent communication and understanding, we were able to join the group at Asahiyama Zoo on time. Our guide, Sophia, was incredibly attentive, communicating in Japanese, English, and Mandarin to ensure everyone understood the itinerary. We had ample time to explore and take photos at each attraction. One pleasant surprise was the unexpected opportunity to see the Biei Christmas tree up close, something we had originally planned to only view from the bus. Thanks to Sophia and the driver's on-site assessment, the entire group was able to get off the bus for photos! Speaking of the driver, he could also communicate with us in Japanese and Mandarin. Since our hotel was located in Asahikawa and we weren't returning to Sapporo by tour bus, the guide and driver even checked the public bus schedules after New Year's Day to understand any special changes and arrangements. Their meticulous and patient service made our experience even more enriching. At Blue Pond and Shirahige Falls, Sophia's explanations gave us a deeper understanding of these beautiful places. Heartfelt thanks to Trip.com for the arrangements, and to Gogoday for the day trip that added such unforgettable moments to our Hokkaido trip! 😄🙏

The itinerary was the opposite of what was advertised. The first stop was Shikisai-gaoka, passing by a roller coaster—you couldn't see anything unless you were in the driver's seat. The Shikisai-gaoka stop was about an hour and twenty minutes. The second stop was Aoike, a small pond, where we stayed for half an hour. The third stop was Shirahige Falls, a viewing bridge over a ditch—literally, a waterfall, but more like a few streams cascading into the ditch—where we stayed for twenty minutes. These stops were very close to each other, making the drive very short. Finally, at around 1:20 pm, we arrived at Farm Tomita, where we stayed for an hour and forty minutes, concluding our tour at 3:00 pm and heading home. Overall, Shikisai-gaoka and Farm Tomita are worth a visit. You can admire the vibrant sea of flowers and experience the vastness and tranquility of the Hokkaido countryside. Not only are the scenery stunning, but you can also savor the sweetness of local honeydew melons and delicacies enhanced by lavender. The driver-guide remained mostly silent throughout the trip, but the route was well-planned, allowing ample time to explore all four attractions. The downside was that the country roads were too bumpy. The nine-person group was riding in a Toyota Hiace and drove for two and a half hours. The narrow space made the riding experience poor.
