Stargazing Moab is pleased to host you, family, and friends for an entertaining evening of stargazing and astronomy within the beautiful Colorado Plateau. If you are looking for what to do in Moab with family or friends, our stargazing tours are the perfect evening activity.
Starting with a short walk through a scale model of our solar system, our guides will familiarize you with our neighboring planets as astronomical twilight begins to set. Upon arrival at the site, we will take you on a trip through the cosmos using state-of-the-art telescopes (Celestron and Unistellar). You will gaze out on distant nebula and galaxies, as well as more local neighbors. See the rings of Saturn or the bands and zones of Jupiter's beautiful atmosphere. Find beauty in the craters and faces of the moon.
Our highly knowledgeable and trained astronomers will take you on a guided journey through Moab's internationally certified dark skies. Learn to find North and the locations of our seasonal triangles and constellations with a high powered laser pointer brining ancient mythology to life. View up close the spiral arms of galaxies and brilliant colors in nebulae. We will provide you an entertaining and scholastic experience, with stories about ancient civilizations, Greek mythology, and the evolution of the Cosmos as you lay back and ponder your place in space and time.
Our wide array of digital and optical telescopes regularly view the following types and classes of objects: galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, double and binary stars, planets, Earth's moon, globular clusters, comets, and more. Depending on timing, the International Space Station (ISS) and Starlink trains can be seen passing overhead.
