Reviews: The Scotch Whisky Experience Guided Whisky Tour - An Introduction to Whisky
Guest User2026-01-11
The Scotch Whisky Experience in Edinburgh is well worth a visit. For £40, you’re guided through a series of immersive rooms that explain the history of Scotch whisky and the process behind how it’s made, from production to maturation. The experience is informative without being overwhelming and is presented in an engaging, easy-to-follow way. The highlight comes at the end with a guided tasting of several different whiskies, which adds a hands-on element to everything you’ve just learned. Overall, it felt like good value for the price, and I’d happily do it again or recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
Reviews: 1-day tour to Loch Ness + Glen Coe + Scottish Highlands from Edinburgh, UK - small group or large group options

It was the New Year's Eve report group, business consultants May and Angel took the trouble to answer my questions and arrange the itinerary for me. Thank you very much. In fact, the one-day trip to the Scottish Highlands is indeed too tight. If there is enough time, the three-day tour experience will definitely be better. Because the journey to and from the car for nearly 12 hours a day was really hard, and I was motion sickness in the first half and almost vomited out. But the tour guide is also very good. I think she is really good at driving a woman all day and constantly talking. The attitude is also good, warm and thoughtful, and all questions are answered in time, because the itinerary does not include the boat ticket to Loch Ness, we later bought the ferry ticket from her, In fact, the cruise ship is very boring. The road trip is mainly the scenery along the way. We are also very lucky. We actually encountered a sunny day in the Scottish Highlands in winter, and the visibility is very high. The sunny day and the snow-capped mountain configuration are really very rare. The tour guide is boasting that we are very lucky all the way. It's such a good weather.

The tour guide and driver were both very nice. My English isn't great, but the guide kept explaining the route at 0.5x speed. The scenery in Scotland was breathtaking. It felt unreal. A must-see!

Our guide Brian was very knowledgeable and took us to some great spots. He introduced us to some whiskey we definitely would not find in the US. It was a great afternoon.

My husband and I did a tour with Gee for 3 hours incorporating our personal interests in sites in Edinburgh and including a stop at a local pub for lunch in which we were invited to try some local food. We were traveling with another couple who are very good friends of ours and were able to walk the city and see Dean Village, Grassmarket, a quick peak at the Royal Mile (we didn't want to spend tons of time there since it is so busy with tourists), both Old Town and New Town, Outlander site, Calton Hill and points of interest along the way between these spots. Gee was a wonderful guide and made the whole experience a high point of our time in Edinburgh. He shared many interesting and fun stories full of the history of Edinburgh. At the pub, we enjoyed (even though we doubted we would) Cullen Skink, Boiled Scottish eggs, Haggis Spring Rolls, and Smoked Salmon. Thanks to Gee's gentle nudge we tried them all and loved them. We highly recommend Gee as this was one of the most fun things we did while there and we loved it that he tailored it specifically to what we had expressed we were interested in through a questionnaire provided prior to our arrival. We felt he went above and beyond our expectations for this tour. Take the tour with Gee and you won't be sorry you did!!
