Reviews: Wieliczka Salt Mine: Guided Tour from Krakow (with hotel pickup)
Guest User2026-01-03
I visited the Wieliczka Salt Mine on December 28th and the experience was captivating from start to finish. Despite the Christmas season and the high attendance, the organization was very efficient, and the visit went smoothly without excessive waiting. Tickets cost €34. The guided tour takes you progressively deeper, reaching 135 meters underground. You pass through corridors, rooms carved from salt, and rooms that recount centuries of mining history. The most spectacular spot is the Chapel of St. Kinga, a huge underground church made entirely of salt: altars, chandeliers, bas-reliefs, and floors carved with incredible precision. The soft lighting creates an almost unreal atmosphere, made even more evocative during the Christmas season. The internal temperature is constant and pleasant, making the visit comfortable even in the dead of winter. The tour requires some walking, but is well-structured and suitable for everyone. The final part is surprising: after completing the itinerary, the ascent takes place via a mine elevator that brings you back to the surface in about 30 seconds.

Dominic was a fabulous guide. We learned a lot and loved the combination of his stories and the recorded information.

We had a wonderful tour of Kazimierz, Schindler museum and ghetto. Our tour guide Barbara was excellent and full of knowledge on the areas we visited and very happy to answer questions we had. Highly reccommend this tour if like me you have interest in history.

Had a fantastic time at the museum, our guide Joanna was so knowledgeable and passionate, it was hard not to feel involved. She engaged with all of the group and we could ask questions and she was ready with all the answers. It’s so much more worthwhile visiting with a guide who can point out all the details you’d naturally miss if you were to walk around self guided. Would definitely recommend.

Toured around krakow with Jacob our host. Spent a good 2 hours around the old town. Then he took us down to the Jewish area. Then finally down to the ghetto where schindlers factory was. Very informative. Fairly priced and a great English speaking tour host.
