The trip was great and a different experience, especially being able to see the snow. Although we couldn't go up to Serra da Estrela, which was closed that day, we stayed in Penhas da Saúde, where there was plenty of snow and we enjoyed it a lot. The place has a good restaurant, which helped make the experience even more pleasant. The only point to improve is the duration of the trip, which ends up being short due to the long journey between Lisbon and the region. Perhaps including more time at the location or even an option with accommodation, going one day and returning the next, would make the trip even more worthwhile.

Our excursion to Serra da Estrela was undoubtedly an incredible experience. Mr. Samuel took us to several emblematic places in the mountains, always sharing their history with enthusiasm and profound knowledge. His love for the region and his genuine passion for teaching are clearly evident. He was friendly, approachable, and good-humored, creating a light and welcoming atmosphere throughout the day. He drives safely, was flexible with schedules, and made sure to adapt the experience to our group. It was also beautiful to see the familiarity between the locals and how they interact, something he himself reflects in his communication and hospitality. As a special gesture, he offered us a book he authored and an excellent tasting. We were left with the feeling of having experienced the mountains through someone who truly feels them. We wholeheartedly recommend him and wish him every success.

We had an exceptional experience at Fado na Baixa in Porto. The performance featured highly professional musicians and singers who delivered traditional fado music with remarkable passion and emotion. Their beautiful performances truly moved the audience. Between the live performances, the show included informative video clips that explored the history of fado, including the Coimbra style of fado and the important role of female fado singers. Learning about the origins and evolution of this music greatly deepened our appreciation of what we were hearing. The space itself was super intimate and cozy, which made the experience feel even more personal and immersive. If we return to Portugal, we would definitely love to experience this performance again. We strongly recommend Fado na Baixa to all visitors to Portugal.


