Itinerary
Anne Frank is known around the world for her diary, written while she and her family were hiding from the Nazi occupiers during World War II. Published after her death, the diary became one of the most widely read books in history, with more than 30 million copies sold. On this walking tour, you'll go beyond the familiar story of the Secret Annex and explore Anne Frank's life as a young girl growing up in Amsterdam.

Anne spent much of her childhood in the city, which played a vital role in shaping who she was. Born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt am Main, she moved to Amsterdam with her family in 1933, as her father Otto Frank sought safety from the rising antisemitism in Germany.

During this guided walk, you'll visit the places that mattered most during Anne's early years. See the schools she attended, the bookstore where she bought her iconic diary, and the neighborhood where she played with friends. You'll also pass the home of Miep Gies, Otto Frank's secretary and one of the brave helpers who protected the family and later saved Anne's diary after the arrest.

The tour takes place in Amsterdam South, a charming and lesser-known part of the city that many visitors never see. Built in the 1920s and 1930s, this area reflects innovative ideas in urban planning, architecture, and social housing, offering a unique and meaningful way to experience Amsterdam beyond the historic center.
