Reviews: Whale and Dolphin Small Group Sailing from Tenerife South

We had an amazing experience on our boat trip to see the whales. We went out with Patrick who was great, really informative and also provided us with funny stories and great chat. Not to mention a wee beverage as we sailed along haha
We saw a family of Pilot whales after a while of searching and it was a beautiful thing to see.
Also enjoyed a cooling dip in the sea as well with a snorkel to see the fish below followed by a lovely wee picnic on board with more drinks.
We will 100% be booking a sunset boat trip and possibly another whale watching trip as well when we return to Tenerife.

In the words of my 8 year old son “BEST DAY EVER!”.
We caught the cable car to the viewing platform and climbed to the summit thereafter (permit required to access the summit).
We spent 11 days in Tenerife and this was our last day excursion. We were lucky enough to access the summit of volcano with no other tourists around. We spent 30 minutes at the top taking photos and having a good look around at the crater and views.
Things to note -
If you drive like we did, the roads are long and winding. It’s about 70-90 minutes from most locations on the island. The drive is not for the faint hearted but is manageable.
Parking was a bit of an issue. It’s super busy at any given time. We did get a space eventually but had to walk from the main road nearly to the cable car area at the base.
Boarding is 20 minutes before you allocated cable car time. Be there or be square! They did leave without people who arrived late.
If you are hoping to access the summit of the volcano you need to apply for a permit. We applied for this a number of months before our visit.
Also, if you are going to attempt the summit be prepared for the altitude. Me and my son wholly underestimated the altitude situation. We had to stop nearly every 5 minutes to catch our breath. Took us around an hour to climbed to the top. Yes, parts of the track you will have to physically climb. Take plenty of water and snacks!
All in all…. If you are going up there, go for the summit. Amazing experience and something me and my son will never forget!★

We enjoyed the trip and saw dolphins, pilot whales and a turtle. The turtle had fishing line and netting caught around its neck. We managed to free the turtle from the debris which was brilliant. We hope the turtle will live a long life now.
The sea is very choppy and two of my family became sea sick. This did spoil the trip for them.
I would recommend this trip but I would like to recommend to the company running the trip to ensure that the guests are told where to find life jackets and first aid kit. It was somewhat alarming that the captain did not know where the first aid kit was. ★

Thank you so much to our lovely skipper Álvaro. We had a wonderful time. Álvaro was very helpful and always checking we were ok. I booked for my family of five and there was only two other guests on the sailboat which made it feel like a private hire. We were offered to move around the boat freely and Álvaro let us know as soon as the pilot whales were in sight. He gave us plenty of time to see/video them but also made sure we didn’t stay too long as to disturb them. We were lucky enough to spot two groups which was amazing. We then moved on to a quiet spot where we could stop to swim and have some lunch. I cannot recommend this trip enough. We were very happy with the friendly, relaxed experience and had an amazing time. Thank you Álvaro and team!!!★

The ship was a professional who has handled the boat perfectly despite the strong waves today.
