Coming from America and only having 4 days in Warsaw, my family wanted to get a "lay of the land" quickly so we could absorb as much as possible. We also wanted a private tour because we were already a group of 7, and we were coming to Poland to follow the genealogy trail of my mother's side of the family. Additionally, we were looking for a custom tour that could limit the amount of walking for senior citizens. I couldn't believe it when I found Marcin's tour, and he offered all of these things. First, Marcin is charming, funny, extremely well-educated and enthusiastic about his beloved Warsaw and all things Poland, really. It is not easy to distill Poland's history into a 3 hour tour, but Marcin has managed to organize an expedition that does just that. As much as we asked him questions, Marcin asked us questions to highlight our particular interests and personalize the conversations inside the "Zuk" - (retro van). This was especially meaningful to my mother who wanted to learn more about life in Poland during the years her grandparents bravely left their small villages for America in 1904-1907. Of course, we saw many historical attractions which helped us get a sense of the city, but we really appreciated when Marcin took us to local spots in Praga and to an apartment building at the site of the Warsaw Uprising. One could walk by these buildings and never know their significance, but Marcin made sure we were witnessing history on the streets of Warsaw that were less touristy. (SIDE NOTE: We also stopped at a spot where we had the most incredible blueberry pastries called Jagodzianki. Incredible!) Poland's history can be dark and traumatic, but Marcin offered a unique balance that left us feeling intrigued and motivated to learn more. And how about riding in a Zuk? It was so fun! We enjoyed all of the stares we got from people on the street. We felt like V.I.P.'s getting a very special ride through Warsaw. I cannot recommend this tour enough. It is worth every penny. Thank you again, Marcin!
